Earth Hour
Earth Hour ...... came about in March 2007 ..... in Sydney, Australia ...... and has since caught the world's attention ...... it will be observed ...... today ...... Saturday, March 29, 2008 ..... from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm (local time) ...... it is a global movement to shut off the lights for one hour ..... in order to make a statement ...... to world leaders ..... about the need for action ...... on global warming.
Earlier this week ...... I read an article ....... in one of the dailies ..... about things you could do during 'Earth Hour' ...... then on Thursday ..... a friend of mine ...... sent me an email about it ...... with a whole other list of wonderful suggestions ...... such as ...... pleasant conversation with friends (over a cup of hot chocolate - 'dark' of course!) ...... having a picnic under the stars ..... having a dance ..... or a slumber party ...... star gazing ...... etc. etc. etc. (NOTE: surprisingly, 'makin babies' didn't make the list!)
Now yuh know us trinis always quick tuh jump on de bandwagon ..... we kinda follow-fashion ..... so if de rest of the world doin it ..... we in de mix too ...... but think about this one carefully ...... you realise that ....... we have been observing 'Earth Hour' ....... at least once a week?! ...... look just yesterday ...... I observed "Earth 50 Minutes" ...... yep ...... lights went fuh 50 minutes!!!!!
So jus when we tinkin ....... dat T&TEC just out tuh frustrate our arse ...... is because dey already on de 'save de planet' mission ....... long time!! ..... dey already clued in ...... dey know what time it is ...... we watchin dem slight!!!!
This trini is definitely proud to know ...... that she has been contributing to this cause all along ...... albeit involuntarily ...... so I eh really feelin da 60 minute darkness vibes tonight ..... on top ah dat ..... you know how much mischief dem bandit and dem ...... muzbe plan fuh da hour ....... a whole 'advertised' hour without lights! ....... but anyway ...... ah know some of allyuh ........ will still feel de need ..... tuh play yuh part tonight (or jus 'play')..... so remember ...... be safe ...... lock up tight!!!!
..... and for those who probably didn't know about this ...... or forgot ....... doh study it ...... as ah say ..... de good news is ...... T&TEC will help yuh out some other day!!!!
