Pronto …... at 6:59 pm …… I tuned in to TV6 …… tuh take eeeen de news …… and right there in de intro ….. in de headlines …… was the proclamation …… that electricity rates will be increased in May ….. anyway ….. after de bombshell drop …… they launched into stories ....... justifying de increase ...... and explaining de increase ...… going into lil tidbits like ….. rates eh increase fuh de past 16 years ...... blah, blah, blah BS ….. and how it only goin tuh increase a few cents per kilowatt/hour etc. etc. etc. …… but ……. as ironic …… as irony can be …….. while blabbin bout said electricity ……. de current in meh house dip ……. this was about 7:07 pm …… 

Ah givin yuh one guess ……. wha yuh tink happen next? ….. yep ……. de dip was de warning …… cuz …… 13 minutes later ….. at 7:20 pm ...... de CURRENT ….. DIP OUT!!!!! …… it went ……. it was gorn ….. to not return ...... til 9:51 pm ….. needless tuh say ...... de news turn tuh SALT! ...... but back tuh de timin ..... let's work it out de ABC way ……. 7:20 to 9:20 is two hours ….. and 20 from 51 is 31 …….. so de current went fuh ah whole TWO HOURS AND THIRTY-ONE MINUTES!!!!! 

Do you know how excruciatingly painful it is …… to exist in a house with no electricity …. fuh two hours and thirty-one minutes???!!! …… of course that’s a rhetorical question ….. cuz if yuh livin in TnT ..... you WILL know …… 

When current go ….. there is absolutely nothing you can do ……. but wait ……. comin tuh tink of it ….. yuh could listen tuh yuh battery operated radio (and waste out yuh expensive batteries) …… or yuh could talk on yuh cell phone ..... or yuh landline (and run up de phone bills) …… or yuh could practice textin …… or yuh could go outside and talk tuh yuh neighbours ……. or yuh could make shadow art on yuh walls ….. or yuh could play on yuh laptop …… yuh could go and sleep (ughhh!) …… or as the ‘Earth Hour’ people suggested ….. yuh could do some star gazing …… or if yuh’s ah bandit ….. yuh could take advantage of de dark (although ‘darkness’ is no longer a criteria tuh do shit!) …… or yuh could stare outside ah window …… or pray (fuh current tuh come back!) ..….. or meditate ….. or yuh could maybe try tuh make ah baby …… or yuh could ‘time’ yuh candles …… yuh could time how long dey takin tuh burn out ……. in dat 2 ½ hours …… I muzbe bun bout four 9” candles ……. some brand called Krystal ….. dat supposed tuh bun real long …… there was one ….. that the wick refuse tuh bun out …… it just turned black ...... and hung down the side of the candle …… fully flamed ……. ah had tuh blow it out ….... but luckily …… I was able to replace it …… cuz ah buy real candles ...... de las time ah make ah grocery run …… how pathetic is that ..... that ‘candles’ now star on yuh grocery list!?

        

I doh know nah …… it amazes me …… dat in dis day and age …… current still goin ……. in dis 21^st century ……. wit TnT racin towards first world status by 2020 ……. current sill goin!!! …… and imagine while current still goin ……. we now realisin dat we need tuh spend a few billion …… tuh organize ah 24/7 water supply …… fuh EVERYBODY ……. but ah strayin …… back tuh de current topic ……. I just wish …… dat in de future ...... T&TEC could forewarn us of these forced ‘Earth Hours’ ….. so at least we could plan our ‘dark time’ better …….  

But ….. looking on the bright side …… of this dark situation ……. at least …… we …… in west TnT …… tonight …… contributed towards the global warming cause of …… energy reduction ….… by cutting our emissions for 2 hours and 31 minutes ……. of course aided by T&TEC …… so Thank You T&TEC ……. on behalf of planet Earth!!!
