Chutney Soca Monarch 2008 …… Rooplal Girdharrie ….... win a car ...... and some money ...... and when dey finally give him de car yesterday …… de man say ‘Me ain’t taking dat” ….. ah new bran car eh!!!
Apparently de prize was supposed tuh be ...... a fully-loaded 2008 edition Mitsubishi Lancer …… and dey give de man ah 2007 ……. which we all know is what happens in the early months of the year …... dey always have some ole ones from de previous year ..... tuh palm off ....... is like when I bought my car ….. I bought it in January 2004 ….. but is really ah 2003 model ….. and whatever! …… de car was still a 'new' car!!
De man say he feels ‘cheated’ …... and I fully understand the feeling ...... of feeling 'cheated' …… cuz that’s exactly how I feel ...... when I hear a chutney song ……
Now I eh no soca music connoisseur ….. and I have nothing against soca ..... but oh gorm …… chutney soca is beyond comprehension ..... it not interesting ..... it not creative ...... it not sensible ...... it not melodic ...... it not memorable ...... and it never sober ...... it always involves rum ...... in short ...... is de biggest setta shit music ever created ….... I was so shame tuh be trini (not afro or indo …. jus trini!) …… when I witnessed de Chutney Soca Monarch competition on TV earlier this year ……. tuh tink dat big, hard back men and women ….. actually took time to write such asinine lyrics ….. and then actually perform the songs ...... fuh ah competition!!! ....... SHAME!

Because of the racists undertone I did not enjoy your article but I laugh like hell at the chutney piece you compose.
Is like you just have to write any shit repeat some lines so it sound like a chorus and you good to go. I think you should have included rum and wine somewhere in it to make it more authentic.

Hey MythSlayer ...... I certainly didn't mean to come across as racist ....... cuz I really don't see 'race' or 'gender' ..... on top ah dat ..... I so damn mix up ....... I could never be racist ....... so now that I've cleared that up ..... I still think that chutney soca is crap ..... and to some extent ...... regular soca too .......
anyway ....... ah comin tuh sing backup fuh yuh nex year ..... cuz I doh mind winnin ah car and some cash too ......

ok my real response... chutney music is shit... i especially liked how you made sure to repeat the lines... you got it right...
i dint biz bout if he take d prize or not but it isnt anything unusual... we are usually given older car models and they are passed off as the new ones... anyone remember the old ROVERs that were sold as brand new?
