Last year ....... all now so ...... I jibbin ...... on some fabulous beach in Tobago ....... lappin up some rays ...... takin eeeen de salt and sand ...... eatin some crab an dumplin (yummy!!!) ...... sippin on ah cold Stag ...... and basically just passin time ....... til part 1 (night 1) of de Plymouth Jazz Festival ....

Since the first year ....... 2005 ....... when it was called "Tobago Jazz Fest" ....... ah end up goin ...... of course tuh maco ...... it was an absolutely beautiful experience ...... it was exactly how I imagined a jazz festival to be ...... since I'd never been to any other ..... that year too ..... it actually had ah lil 'jazz' ...... not that that mattered to me ...... cuz I not really into jazz ....... then in 2006 ...... I guess because of ...... increased popularity ........ and maybe ah lil too much tweaking ...... it started to change ..... with the most obvious difference being ...... the introduction of de ....... 'segregate de cattle concept' ...... aka VIP ..... then in 2007 ...... another noticeable change came about ..... wit de 'rent a chair' scene ...... no longer could you have simply walked with your own chair ...... no longer was it a cool ...... open air kinda vibes ....... where yuh coulda bring yuh blanket ...... and lie down on de ground ...... it evolved into a stiff concert type vibe ..... where hundreds of chairs were placed in rows ..... and patrons either sat on them ....... or stood up at the back ....... last year ...... by de time day 3 reach ...... I coulda swear is 'Soca fuh Summer' I went to ..... there was no ambiance whatsoever ...... zero ....... jus real people ...... and real chairs ...... real madness! ...... but other than the changed vibe ...... and oh ...... the disastrous shuttle service after de shows (cuz yuh had tuh 'shuttle it' back tuh yuh car) ....... most of the actual performances over the years ...... were very memorable ...... especially ones like ....... Sting ...... Earth, Wind and Fire ...... Stevie Wonder ..... Baby Face ...... Elton John ...... Pattie La Belle ..... Natalie Cole ...... Gladys Knight ..... and even Diana Ross ....... who end up being kicked off de stage ........ after only bout 15 minutes ...... tuh bring on Mary J. Blige ....... but Diana's a real trooper ....... in spite of de pure hate last year ....... ah see she come again dis year ...... you go girl!!!

All in all ..... I was happy to experience the many greats of the past ..... thanks to the Plymouth Jazz Festival ...... however ..... this year ........ ah not on dem ....... no jazz fuh me ........ missing it fuh de first time (sob, sob) ...... and is not because ah tie up ...... or ah have tuh work ...... or anyting like dat ....... ah jus decide ..... dat after last year ...... ah jus eh feelin dem vibes ...... an' on top ah dat ...... de cast lil 'ordinary' ....... de ticket prices lil 'pricey' ..... and ah jus doh have de energy ........ couldn't be bothered ..... tuh go tru all de tra-la-la dat necessary ...... fuh meh jazz weekend tuh be comfy!

My peeps ....... have been begging me to come across ....... cuz dey done dey ....... and ....... as much as all the begging ...... got me feeling all warm and fuzzy and wanted and special ....... ah still eh goin ....... they'll just have to get by without me ..... I know it's gonna be hard ..... but they'll make it

This weekend ...... I'll be home ...... in trini ....... where already ..... the atmosphere has taken on ah kinda sombre, quiet feel ........ cuz yuh know EVERYBODY and dey tantie in Tobago!!!

So ....... odda dan takin eeen ....... one of dem fast ferry ....... goin back an forth between Tobago and Trini ........ I'll also be hangin wit me ...... takin care of my bodi ...... and trying to devise a plan ...... to get into 'Platinum' ..... fuh de concert ...... wit Brian Mc Knight ..... and Lionel Richie!!!

Honestly ...... all BS aside ....... is dem blasted bodi plants ...... dat have meh grounded!!! ...... ahhhhh ...... life does really change when yuh have chirren yes!!!!
