Not literally ...... jus de prelude!!!

...... and its not really that ...... that prompted this post ....... its a comment ....... that was submitted by one of my readers ...... which got me thinking about carnival on de whole ....... you see ...... Zee was surprised at my inference ....... that the upcoming T-Pain/Keyshia Cole concert was lookin like ah buss ....... cuz she assume it was sellin ....... she then went on to say ....... dat she hear real people goin Tribe too ....... and maybe even her (btw Zee, hope you ARE a 'her'!) ...... interesting comparison I thought ...... cuz here it is ...... we have two big, very different events ...... scheduled to take place ..... on de same nite ....... and ....... because I not really in carnival mode ...... I totally didn't remember ...... dat Tribe ..... is dat nite too ..... cuz ....... the reality is ..... Tribe band launch is ah event ..... dat could very well buss ah concert ...... especially when de two artistes being featured in de concert ...... eh no real crowd pullers (well in my opinion)!!

Carnival ...... and playin mas an ting ..... is tings I doh really deal up wit anymore ...... back in de day tho ...... was borse ........ I start playin mas ...... when costumes was still drawings on ah wall ..... in dem days ...... we didn't dream yet ..... of havin de real ting on ah mannequin ...... or even ah live model ...... and all de sections used tuh come wit ah standard ..... no, not as in quality ...... as in ..... ah stick in yuh hand ...... dat yuh had tuh tote ..... whole day!! ..... fuh years ...... I was ah real carnival jumbie ....... but ....... with age came ..... reason ...... less stamina ...... and more cellulite ..... and with each year ...... came new batches of hotter, younger tings tuh contend wit  ..... it had reach de point ...... where ah just couldn't bring mehself tuh fork out ....... $2000 - $3000 ........ fuh two days only (if was de whole week maybe!!) ...... so eventually ..... I jus became disenchanted ...... and dropped out!

But ...... altho I no longer played 'the mas' ...... carnival was always ah good scene tuh maco ....... and keep updated on ...... wit all de inherent bacchanal and all ..... and what better place tuh do dat ...... than the Trinidad Carnival Diary blog ..... I was introduced to this blog late last year ...... and I immediately became addicted ..... I experienced carnival vicariously thru this blog ...... talk about entertaining ...... and informative ....... wit some super passionate readers ....... and an equally passionate writer (Saucy) ....... this blog jus blew me away ...... cuz I discovered dat REAL people ......  REAL serious bout dey carnival ..... and I not talkin bout de people who does make de money eh ..... I talkin bout de people who does willingly give away dey money ...... de masqueraders ........ and ..... imagine havin enuff content ...... on the topic of 'carnival' alone ...... tuh sustain a blog for the entire year! ...... to date ..... that still amazes me ...... de amount ah ting ...... dat does happen in ah day ..... in de carnival world ..... WOW ....... and de kinda tings ...... dat does come up ...... tings I never tink twice bout ...... and tings dat only 21st century masqueraders would bring up ...... like Frontline or Backline ..... or how tuh waterproof yuh costume feathers ...... or who tuh check fuh FAB Carnival Boots ...... or where tuh find body glitter ....... or what sweatproof makeup tuh use ...... watch meh ....... ANYTING yuh need tuh know bout carnival ...... it dey ...... EVERYTING dey!!!  

Like did you know that ....... THREE new bands comin out fuh C2K9?! ...... ah scene dat ....... up tuh bout 8 years ago ...... was non-existent ....... long time ..... whenever yuh saw de words ...... THREE and BANDS ...... in de same sentence ..... it meant de ...... THREE ONLY BANDS ...... Minshall, Harts and Poison (or was it Savage?) ...... two of which ..... not even on de radar anymore!!! ...... and did you know that ....... Band Launches start since July 4 ....... with 3 gorn ahready ...... and dat 10 more on de way ...... over de nex 3 months?! ....... and did you know dat 2 of de debutants (Kaotic and Spice) ...... already launch ........ wit de latter ....... sellin out 2 sections ....... even before de band ....... launch!

Mas bands real blowin up de spot bwoy ...... wit about 20-someting of dem ...... out there now ...... but dah eh nuttin ..... de more ...... de merrier ..... cuz now ...... is more tizzickness ...... more variety ...... more choice ....... more confusion (in yuh head) ...... more competition ....... more band launches tuh go to ....... more money spending ...... more bachannal ...... ahhhhhh ....... ah love it!!!

So yeah ....... it official ........ CARNIVAL COME BACK AGAIN! ...... the race is on to C2K9 ....... and so far ..... so good ....... look some pics from de 3 bands dat done launch:
