WHAT a bargain! ....
Today I had some running around tuh do in de East ....... and whenever I'm in de East ..... I make it a point tuh ...... check out Pennywise in Grand Bazaar ...... and I really don't know why ..... I guess it's just because ...... I'm pretty much programmed tuh think that Pennywise ..... IS de wise way tuh save ah penny! ...... but is it really? ...... cuz is it that we're really getting products ...... at a cheaper price ....... or is it simply a case of getting 'cheaper' products (as in quality) ..... at the price they're really worth .......
and ..... are the products .... the same as the products of like kind ...... that you'd get ...... at the grocery ....... or a drug store ...... or a perfume store ...... or a makeup store?!
My last visit to Pennywise ...... left me in doubt about all those things ...... cuz you see ...... I buy the same stuff all the time ...... I hardly ever change products or brands or scents (unless of course they've been discontinued) ..... so fuh years ...... I've been using the same shampoo ..... and bath soap ...... and body lotion ...... and toothpaste ...... etc. etc. etc. ....... so when I saw my favourite toothbrush ...... REACH ...... MEDIUM ...... FULL HEAD ....... fuh less dan half de Starlite Drugs price ...... ah call down 3 one time (cuz yuh know everyting in dey ... in ah bloody glass case) ...... however ....... when I got home ..... I realised that I had paid for exactly what I got ....... cuz said toothbrush ...... which I woulda normally pay about $14.95 for ...... was only $5.75 in Pennywise ..... now how could dat be I thought ...... well ...... as it turns out ....... the 'Full Head' ..... was no full head ...... cuz trust me ...... after many years of starting off my day wit ah 'Full Head' in my mouth ...... I KNOW exactly what a 'Full Head' in my mouth feels like ...... and dat $5.75 toothbrush was no Full Head ...... someting was missin ...... maybe a row of bristles ...... or maybe even part of de head ...... and dat ...... I figure ...... is why de price was so right!!!
Then today now ....... ah needed tuh get some basics ....... ah lil Listerine ....... some baby oil ..... body lotion ..... ah Shampoo ...... ah Conditioner ..... bout 2 more Toothbrush (AGAIN!) ..... yeah my teet does real mash up toothbrush ...... so ah like tuh change it ..... bout every two months or so ...... well ...... I doh know if is a new full head dey get or sumtin ...... but today's full head was $6.50 ...... an watch meh ...... doh get tie up eh ...... da'is before VAT ....... yes ...... I discovered that a lot of the prices on dem lil green tags ....... is de price before VAT ....... so jus when yuh was tinkin ...... dat de price was lookin nice ...... 15% still had tuh add orn tuh dat!!! ..... and ...... another thing I observed ...... Pennywise bills ..... doh have no 'Details' ...... so if yuh like me ...... and yuh like tuh check back yuh bill (after de fact) ....... is SALT from Pennywise ...... cuz EVERYTING name 'VAT ITEMS' ....... and bout 2 ting name 'NON VAT' ...... wuz dah one?!

But anyway ...... back tuh meh lil shortlist from today ...... which totally DID NOT have cotton buds (aka Q-tips in Trini) starrin anywhere ....... but somehow end up in meh basket ..... cuz yuh know how when yuh walkin around Pennywise ...... it always have someting on SALE or SPECIAL!! ...... in each section yuh bound tuh see some two items scotch tape up together ..... with a big fluorescent sticker ...... sayin SPECIAL ...... or ...... on some ...... yuh does jus see de sticker saying FREE ...... well ..... there I was ...... lookin fuh meh new favourite 'not so full head' toothbrush (cuz after usin dem fuh de past few months ah learn tuh live wit de smaller head!) ...... when ah spot some Q-Tips wit ah big orange sticker sayin 'BUY 75 GET 25 FREE' ....... so of course ...... ah immediately ask de Store Clerk fuh one ...... cuz who could resist ah bargain!!
You know when I reach home ..... and I reading de container ....... it have '100 buds' printed on it!!! ....... it was ALWAYS ah '100 buds' container ..... so what was de scheme behind dat dotish sticker ....... cuz duh ..... if de pack was always containing 100 buds ...... yuh coulda even ..... 'BUY 60 GET 40 FREE' ...... or any other stupid variation totaling 100 ...... so what wuz de real scene here ....... wuz it just a ploy ..... tuh bamboozle clueless 'always lookin fuh ah bargain' shoppers like me?! ..... or am I missing something?!

On the toothbrush, I use to use those - till I discovered Pulsar toothbrushes . Of course, I have a rechargeable one, but I paid £6 for a manual one (AA Duracell battery included)for my Trini trip, since the charger is only for 230V. Yuh ent clean yuh teeth till you use one ah dese. By the way, a lil tip. Arm & Hammer teeth whitening toothpaste does work.
And, has anyone ever figured out why we call them toothbrushes instead of teethbrushes? 'Cause is hardly likely people buying dem to brush one tooth you know; is mostly teeth we have.

Hey Fat Gyirl, re de VAT issue at Pennywise, you could be mistaken because, by law, all stores, merchants etc are required to display "VAT inclusive" prices. Check Consumer Affairs Division. Re the Cotton Buds, yuh mus be payin' the price for what 75 would cost.....not what 60 would cost??????? There would be a difference.

I can't remember sending the first one so i have to rewrite my comment lol.You see I only discovered there was nothing "cheap" about pennywise during july vacation. Besides why go all the way in town when i have my kappa drugs or super pharm. besides i like to pick up my own items anyway...

I've only now started tuh really assess dis whole Pennywise scene ..... tuh determine whether it really is WISE!
I made a note of the prices of the items I bought yesterday (which ARE actually VAT inclusive) ...... so that the next time I go to Starlite Drugs (doh like Superpharm) ....... I can compare ..... cuz sometimes the Pennywise items are not cheaper at all ...... so sometimes it doh make no sense waitin til I have ah East run ...... tuh buy ting in Pennywise ...... when I could buy it fuh de same price ..... in Starlite Drugs ..... as and when I need it ......
and I agree ....... I doh really like dat lookin in glass scene ..... and den somebody choosin my ting fuh me ...... I like tuh pick up my ting fuh myself too ......

De "Fat Gyirl" ting is a guess ah makin'. I really use it as a term of endearment or when I ent know yuh name. At least you know mine. The funny ting is dat really Fat people does take offence as well as "tin" people too. I take yuh point about de cotton buds.

Gyirl, Starlite Drugs is one of de most expensive "Drugmarts" for toiletries and cosmetics. I often have to compare prices since I sometimes sell such items in small quantities. Re de toothbrush ting, yuh mus really get a battery operated one. Yuh go like it.

Well I also have to admit that de "fat gyirl" ting and reference to guessing has some connotations which I will leave to your imagination. I do appreciate your "Pennywise" and pound foolish suggestion, but you appear to travel all over and maybe you could regularise your shopping for such items to coincide with your movements, so you kill 2 stones with one bird and don't expend extra sums on de Gov't Premium gas?????

You know, I feel toothbrush getting like doubles. They holding the price but it getting smaller. How many people actually try out a toothbrush before they buy it? The model toothbrush you bought is the "advanced design" where supposedly the same "effect" is now achieved with less head. I could only imagine how much toothbrush scientist Reach have in the Head Division alone. I suppose these scientist need to understand what feels good in one mouth would may have little effect in another.
Penny is a good person and I hope her choice is a wise one.

I am jumping in a bit late but Starlite is very expensive.I will continue to make my purchases at Pennywise any time.As for the toothbrushes I have to agree with Jumbie and Hugh Anthony, you must try a battery operated one. They really work well. On another note though, I noticed the little faux pas made there by Hugh Anthony and would like to suggest that maybe one should not call others by any name that may offend. We should all strive to be cognisant of the feelings of others. That would lend itself to making the world a better place.
