My ONE day of Christmas ....
It's Christmas ...... and I'm trying to be good ...... not that being good will get me a visit from Santa ...... but ...... I'm still trying to maintain that nice airy fairy disposition dat yuh suppose tuh have at this time of year ...... which by the way ....... is my least favourite (time of year)!! .....
..... cuz Christmas is just no fun anymore!! ..... fuh me ..... things started tuh go downhill ...... way back in de day ...... when I discovered that Santa is just pure crap ..... and then the downward spiral continued ...... up tuh when I discovered that I'm an adult ..... cuz other than the religious aspect (i.e. the birth of Jesus) ..... Christmas is fuh children!!
This year ..... I resolved that Christmas was not to control me ...... and that I was to control Christmas ...... so ...... I did absolutely NOTHING in the name of Christmas ...... life went on as usual ...... until ..... an email from my mother (parents and siblings live abroad) ...... saying that she was sending my Christmas card and present with my cousin ........ who was scheduled to fly to NY yesterday ..... and will be returning to Trini this weekend ..... so ..... since my mother was not aware of what page I was on ...... I sent back a reply sayin ...... that's great, doh have nuttin tuh sen fuh you tho ...... to which she replied ...... that's OK a card will do, you know I like cards ..... to which I replied ...... yeah but its too late to mail a card now (TTPost say de deadline is Dec 17) and its too late to get it to cous ...... to which she replied ....... mailing is fine, better late than never (smiley)! ...... LOL ...... my mother is real kix yes ..... ah had tuh laugh ...... cuz really an truly ...... I shoulda really know better!!!
So long story short ...... in keeping with my 'control Christmas aka ignore Christmas' scene ..... call me ah bad chile ...... but yes ....... I never planned tuh buy ah real bristol board (approximately $25) card fuh my parents ...... my plan .... was tuh call and probably sen ah lil e-card instead ....
Anyway ....... as ah mention before ..... cous was scheduled tuh fly out yesterday ..... so ah say yuh know what ..... leh meh see if ah could make dis Christmas miracle happen ..... which is ..... buy de cards ..... and get them tuh cous in time fuh her afternoon flight!!! (instead of mailing them) ...... and I say 'miracle' ...... cuz all ah dat had tuh happen ...... in 2 hours ...... cuz by de time I realise ...... dat I had tuh go an' hunt down cards (i.e. Wednesday evening) ...... it was too late ...... so I had no choice but tuh tackle de mission yesterday ...... AND complete it by 12:00 noon ..... wit ah start time of 10:00 am!
So being fully aware of my time constraint ..... I arrived at West Mall at 10:00 am on de dot ...... since de card store suppose tuh open at 10:00 am ....... but of course is Trini ...... so in Trini time ...... it opened 15 minutes after de dot ....... now remember ..... ah had tuh reach meh cous by 12:00 noon eh ....... an' she living in de East (kinda far too) ...... so yuh done know ...... dat ah lil traffic woulda be somewhere in de cards (no pun intended) ...... anyway ...... by 10:45 I had accomplished my mission ...... cards duly sourced ...... and it was time tuh head up de road tuh cous ...... I managed to make it in time ..... actually ah reach about 11:30 ...... so we even had time tuh lime an' eat ah lil food an' ting ......
So dat was dat .......
On meh way back home now ....... ah pass tru Pennywise (AGAIN) ...... yes .... cuz I think I AM addicted ..... and cuz de lass time ah went ...... dey didn't have meh Listerine ....... so ah went back fuh it ...... plus ah had ah lil competition entry form tuh drop off (dat I got on my previous visit) ....... which I only knew I had ..... when ah reach back Diego an' was packin away everyting!! ..... but hear nah ....... Grand Bazaar was ah mess ...... is only yesterday I realise how important fresh breath is tuh me ....... cuz de amount ah time I circle Grand Bazaar like ah blasted corbeaux ...... looking fuh ah park ....... it was real tizzickness ...... I end up parkin near de Exit ....... along de wall ...... da'is tuh tell yuh how desperate I was!!
After dat now ...... was straight tuh de Bank in Starlite tuh pay meh T&TEC bill ...... which was back tuh normal this month ...... cuz remember de last two months it was lil wack?! ...... den while ah was in de Bank ....... ah fren call ...... tuh ask meh tuh drop her in town ...... so straight from Starlite ...... I was off tuh Movie Towne ..... tuh pick up fren ...... den off tuh town .... tuh drop off fren .....
While headin back tuh Diego now (from town) ...... in after work traffic and real rain ...... ah remember dat ah have someting tuh drop off fuh ah nex fren ....... in de Valley ...... so ah end up limin in de Valley lil while ..... waiting fuh de rain tuh stop ...... before headin home ...... it never did!!!
So you make out my day yesterday?! ...... I just had tuh label it ....... MY ONE DAY OF CHRISTMAS ..... cuz after leaving my house at 9:56 in de mornin ...... I did not reach home until 6:39 in de evenin ...... an entire day of just running around ...... and driving around ...... and contributing tuh Trini Christmas hustle and bustle .......
I was so beat eh ...... ah organise mehself ....... ah eat ..... ah hole ah fresh ..... an' ah settle mehself in front de TV ....... tuh take eeeen de never endin rain ....... and tuh hopefully fall asleep ...... when BEEP ....... 11:00 pm ..... ah voice message on my cell phone ......
I end up in Zen Christmas Party ....... and didn't reach home til about 4:30 dis mornin ........ WOW ....... what a party ..... what a day!!!
I will definitely be hibernating from today onward .......
PS: .... hear nah ..... dem 4 or 5 lil card I buy yesterday ...... come up tuh $93 and some change!!! ..... you cyah buy no gifts after ah bill like dat!?!?!
.... and look what I see yesterday ....... that rainbow ...... which I captured in its dying out stage (when ah was headin tuh town) ...... but you shoulda see dat ting when it now come out ..... whoa ....... absolutely gorgeous ....... and huge ....... wasn't able tuh take a pic of it then ...... in all its fabulosity ....... its intensity may have been a warning tho ..... of de crazy rain dat was about tuh follow .....

It's also my least favorite time of the year. I agree it's for kids and that is what makes it so crappy. >roll eyes< These kids want electronic gadgets and designer clothes. Guyl I would be elated if they would just ask for a card.
Now I love dat pic, you should try making your own cards and use some of your pics.

Scene, you are creating history. When stories are written about Christmas 20 years from now it would be filled with tales of frustration at the supermarket, frustration in traffic, over baked hams, burnt bread, flavorless pepper sauce, and thieves making off with the Christmas three. Scrooge would be the seen as a visionary, a man way ahead of his times. The whole process of acquiring gifts and overpriced Christmas cards for loved ones and/or parents living overseas or inland would be considered quaint and equated to the ancient practice of toenail pulling. It would be recorded as the most difficult time of the year despite the merchants and Mayors saying otherwise.
