I think us Trinis owe Queen Latifah ah HUGE collective apology ...... and ah HUGER THANK YOU ..... for not embarrassing us on Jay Leno last nite ..... and for being so classy ..... and for actually biggin us up ...... and for teaching us how the word 'lime' came about (as in the context of hanging out) ..... cuz I surely didn't know dat shit!!
After what she went tru in Tobago ..... she coulda go on Jay Leno ..... and flip de scrip ....... and be super bitter ...... but I think maybe she was so gracious ..... because of her Trini friends (who she real tight wit and who I actually know) ......
You see ...... before she headed off to Tobago ...... she was here in Trini ...... something which wasn't exactly secret ..... but let's just say ..... it wasn't really 'advertised' either ...... she was rite dong de road from by me ..... rite in Glencoe ..... and when she went off to Tobago ...... and the news broke that some of her stuff had been stolen ..... I already knew that it wasn't acutally her stuff ...... but her friend's ..... as the newspaper later reported .....
..... and altho de whole scene ..... was ah story worthy of hittin de Scene ..... I really didn't want tuh play it up ...... or crap on it either .... cuz as ah say ...... I'm also friends with her Trini friends!!
Anyway ...... is only dis morning I realise ..... dat she was on Jay Leno last nite ...... after ah read two Letters in today's papers ..... to the Editors of Newsday and Express ..... then this afternoon ...... I received the YouTube link from a friend ..... and then tonight ...... Speedy also sent me the link (on de Iguana drama post) ...... Aye ...... Welcome tuh de Scene Speedy! ..... and oh ..... ah tink Mr. Iguana gorn!
So ...... inasmuch as it gave me goose bumps ...... listening to her speak so nicely about us ....... I thought I'd post it here too ...... cuz it's definiely ..... a must see!

I saw the clip today an I was SO proud of Latifah and how she gave props to Trini (even though i's a Bajan, lol), her 'accent' was too funny "yuh does liiiiimmmmeee" LOL!! yes Latifah, tell de people! LOL

Well she did the right thing and talked about her beautiful vacation and the good time she had. She surely don't want the world to know how careless she and her friend were in leaving out the jewelery.That was an offering to any thief.

Well hear nah I was real antsy to watch Jay that night. I was pleasantly surprised that she talked about her beautiful vacation in my country.
De Saturday night, we bounced her up in Club Deep, and I telling mi fren I hope none ah dem stupid boys ent harass she yes. Next day we hear bout the jewelry. I say 'Bago done for now. I glad that didn't overpower her vacation though.

Thanks to Queen Latifah, for doing more in a few minutes than any tourism initiative can over years. And as you said, it was very gracious of her considering what her friend lost. A classy lady, and I'm glad she had a good time.

I have been reading your blog and find it is so fabulous...You are so funny and is have meh real cracking up in my chair, I keep thinking that I know you and I just couldn't place from where or how...But in this post when you mentioned that you knew the folks that were friends with Queen Latifah in Glenco..I said2myselfoh yeah I must have bounced you up somewhere cause they are my family .. So keep up the great writing skills that have meh cracking up in meh chair in this cold ass weather in Canada..

I'm not too sure that story about "liming" is correct. They does make up one set ah story to tell tourists.
But you are correct, we should send her a nice letter of thanks and apology. We really missed a big one there.
