The Indian Expo .....
I love Indian garb! 
So de Indian Expo is back ...... AGAIN!
One day ...... back in de day (many years ago) ..... a friend of mine ..... who dressin 'Indian' since she born ..... ask meh if ah want tuh check out de Indian Expo wit her ..... well I had no idea what she was talking about ...... cuz in those days ...... the Indians came like only twice a year ..... and it wasn't as well known as it is today ..... so ...... out of curiosity ..... ah went tuh maco de scene ...... and I immediately became hooked ...... I couldn't believe the beauty ....... and fabulosity of the stuff dat was on display ..... I was in awe ...... and I vowed to return whenever they were in Trini ....
Well ...... as word got out ..... and more and more Trinis became aware of the once secret-ish treasure ..... the Indians get bright ..... and their trips to Trini ..... started tuh become ..... fast and furious ...... in de blink of an eye ...... de Indian Expo was always back ...... there was a time when it seemed like they were here ...... like every month ...... so ting yuh didn't buy last month ...... yuh coulda easily get de next month ...... but doh get meh wrong eh ..... I eh complainin ...... cuz I realise dat I really became addicted ...... and jus like any addiction ..... I glad tuh get my fix ..... an' tuh tell yuh how long dis ting goin orn with me ..... I goin tuh de Indian Expo ..... since de days when yuh coulda get ah whole outfit fuh about $30 ....... yep TT$ (Trinidad and Tobago dollars) ...... cuz ah skirt woulda cost yuh bout $20 ...... an' ah top woulda cost yuh anodda $10 ....... however ...... today ...... de same outfit ....... would easily cost yuh ah lil $140 instead ...... but is no scene ...... cuz even at dat price ...... is still ah bargain ......
..... and other than de glitz and de glamour .... of de clothes and de jewellery an' ting ...... da'is ah nex ting dat ah like wit de Indian Expo ...... the bargaining factor ...... cuz if ah man tell yuh someting cost $50 ..... an' yuh screw up yuh face good enuff ...... HELLO ..... one time it goin down tuh $40 ...... or $35 ...... and mind you ...... dat is even when de $50 price tag was done dirt cheap ahready eh ..... but yuh know us Trinis ..... is de thrill of de victory ..... de thrill of gettin ah 'discount' ...... then there's the variety ..... hear nah ..... yuh eye does go cokey wit colour ..... and sequins ...... and beads ...... and textures ..... and all kyna shiny dazzley tings ...... and ...... contrary to what men think ..... it is not ah woman ting ..... men can have fun too ..... an' dey even have ting fuh chirren ...... toys and clothes and jewellery ..... but anyway ...... ah startin tuh sound like ah ad ...... or like if ah workin fuh dem ....... an' gettin commission ....... no ....... it eh have no benefit fuh me ..... I just love things Indian (except TSTT Help Desk)!!!
Ah went today ..... tuh de one in Centre of Excellence ...... an' ah pick up ah few tings ...... but ah didn't have time tuh properly check out de odda one ..... on de opposite side of de road ..... de big Tent one ..... dat Centre of Excellence (or somebody) ...... treatenin tuh close down!! ...... so .... tomorrow ...... before dey really get dey ass close down ..... ah goin again (hopefully) ...... tuh go seek out some more of dat Indian stuff that I love ..... and no doubt ..... part wit more money dat I don't have!

Take it while it cheap. I've seen some outfits here in England, direct from India, by Indians, costing £15,000 or more. By the way, some of the bridal outfits weigh over 40 lbs, so try wearing that from 10 AM, then dancing, partying and feting till after midnight.
Almost enough to ruin the wedding night. (^_^)

Whoa .... ah know dey expensive ..... but 15,000 pounds ..... OMG!!! ..... dey eh dat expensive here ......
..... and weighin 40 lbs ....... WOW ..... had no idea dat dem ting so heavy ...... sheeesh ..... da'is like totin ah mini ME!!! .....
..... but on de point about ruining de wedding nite ...... au contraire ...... I remember the first time I ever played mas ...... I played with Peter Minshall ..... and that year he played "JUMBIE" ...... and my costume was pretty heavy ..... and cumbersome ..... which I wore for the entire day ...... and night ...... cuz he (Minshall) wanted de band tuh cross de stage at nite ...... anyway ...... long story short ...... when I had done cross de stage ..... an' ah finally take off de contraption ..... boy you wouldn't believe what my body coulda do in its new state of 'freedom' ...... talk about CONTORTION!! ....... so ..... this is just another view on carrying around ah 40 lb wedding dress all day ..... it could actually rev up de wedding nite ..... not ruin it!

I was dragged to a couple of these things recently and decided to make the best of it. The girls are great, most of the time and that is my only motivation. I can't comment on the prices over time but I wouldn't be surprised they have been following KFC prices

My aunt goes RELIGIOUSLY. Till she organize with my mom for her to come down to go to that thing. I dunno... as soon as I walk into anything that markety I start to hyperventilate....lol

I'm not sure when the Indian Expo will be back in TnT .....
They were here recently ..... as a matter of fact ..... one is STILL here ...... but when this stint is over ..... they may not return ...... cuz apparently ...... the Govt isn't willing to give them work permits anymore ..... or at least that's what was reported in the newspapers ....
So we'll just have to wait and see ...... cuz before dat bacchanal ..... they were scheduled to return in May ......

They've been back in Trini since that rumour started ..... so I'm sure we'll see them again soon ..... Divali comin yuh know ...... dey mus touchdown fuh dat!
