I am not ah pan person ...... I doh really like pan ...... but ah like de lime ...... well ..... at least when we used tuh have de North Stand ...... not no NORTHERN GREENS ...... dat is so much crap eh ..... de ting like ah big chupid picnic!!! ...... so ...... my plan ...... was me eh goin' no pan ......
However ...... at about 4:00 pm ..... my phone rang ...... it was cous ...... who successfully chained me up ...... to go said pan ...... so I reach dey about 6:00 pm ...... get ah real crips park right by de entrance ...... went straight up tuh de ticket window ...... an' buy meh $200 ticket ...... den ah bounce up ah fren from way back in school days ...... so of course ah buss ah lil small lime with him (an' de wifey) ..... drink ah Stag wit dem etc. ..... den ah went inside ...... well LAWD ..... I never see inside de Northern Greens so green ...... if you see bush ...... an' when ah say bush ...... ah doh mean real bush eh ...... ah mean people ...... if you see people ..... and paraphernalia ..... tents ..... and chairs ..... and coolers ..... and riddem sections ..... and some kinda apparatus lookin like ah mini stands ..... and bars ...... and ah string ban ah toilets ...... de place was so pack up wit crap ..... dat it hardly had space tuh stan up an' gape ...... or walk around an' gape ..... and oh ..... how could I forget ...... dey put dat port-o-floor ting on de ground ..... so instead of walkin around on ah muddy grassy ground ....... yuh was walkin around on ah muddy dutty wet plastic floorin ...... talk about bouje crap!
Anyway ..... I endured (both the crowd and the pan) ...... with the help of alcohol of course ...... until about 10:45 pm ...... when cous finally decided ..... dat it was time tuh leave ...... she see she Phase II (dey play Machel Magic Drum - LOVE dat song!) ..... so she was good tuh go ..... altho she wanted tuh see Witco Desperadoes too eh ...... but good sense prevailed ..... and she say we go jus take dem eeen in de car ...... on de radio ...... and oh what a good decision that was ....... cuz God alone knows what time we woulda get outta dat Savannah ...... if we had only stay tuh hear dat one more band .....
It took us 50 minutes to exit the Savannah ...... mainly cuz of much idiocy ..... on the part of the many drunkards who were headin out at the same time ...... but thankfully ...... we got out OK ..... I got home safely ...... and so did cous.
And all I studyin today is ...... God must really be ah trini yes! ...... cuz I cyah believe de perfect Pan weather we had yesterday ..... and de non-stop pourin rain we had today ..... yeah ..... it still rainin by me (11:58 pm) ..... from since dis morning!!!!

Ladies First was not on my agenda at all ...... cuz I eh one .... tuh run down no free ticket fuh nuttin ..... but ...... Friday self (de day of de party) ..... fren call tuh say dat she link up some ..... so I say ..... cool ....... 'free' is a no brainer ...... we dey!
Now fuh those of you who eh in de know ..... cuz yuh really doh care ..... Ladies First is ah Zen carnival party ...... where dey does give away about 2000 'free' tickets ...... tuh LADIES FIRST ...... altho from de looks of tings this year ...... they apparently gave them to CHILDREN (AND THEIR PARENTS) FIRST!!! ...... but ..... de freeness eh de real pips eh ..... de real excitement of dis party ..... is dat Ladies (wit dey 'free' ticket) have tuh reach before 10:30 pm ...... or else de 'freeness' becomes null and void ..... an' yuh hadda pay ..... hmmmmm ...... what a wonderful, fun feature ..... tuh add tuh an already hyped party vibe ...... where de party done ahready in de West ...... so de traffic alone does done cause an adrenaline rush!!!
Anyway .... wit dat said ..... I leave home real early ...... tuh avoid de traffic (tuh reach in time) ...... and was pleasantly surprised tuh see ..... real Police along de route ...... and NO traffic ....... so tings start off a'ight ...... ah reach down Pier 1 at about 9:45 pm ..... which was really peeve No. 1 fuh de nite...... cuz I doh like tuh open party ....... Iz ah fashionably late kinda gal!! ..... anyway ....... when we reach now ...... we end up limin in de car park .... fuh about ah 20 minutes ..... cuz some friends had ah lil drinks session goin in de back of dey car ...... so of course ..... by de time we actually reach inside Pier 1 now ....... if you see de amount ah odda people who reach FIRST-er ..... so we jus play like we eh see no line (aka massive crowd) ...... an' we walk up de side ...... and in two minutes we was inside (in de nick of time too) ...... when we reach inside now ...... it have ah setta half-naked man pose up by some water fountain ting ...... and misc gyuls takin pictures wit dem ...... so from dah one alone ...... I process one time ..... what kinda night it was goin tuh be .....
And tho I'd like to go into the long version ...... de short version is dis ..... Ladies First was major crap ...... I never see so much chirren in a carnival fete before ..... and ole people too ...... cuz apparently ...... real parents bring dey chirren tuh de party ..... and stay ...... tuh chaperone ...... de party was jus ram ...... and irritating ...... gettin drinks chits was de worse ..... all de lines was long ..... and yes ...... we had tuh buy we own drinks .... cuz remember ..... it was Ladies First ...... so at dat time ..... it didn't really have no man in de party yet tuh bum drinks off of ..... cuz again ..... remember ...... all the Ladies were tryin tuh get in before 10:30 pm ...... STEUPS ..... so yuh hadda fork out yuh own money ..... line up tuh buy chits ...... justle by de bar ..... an' yuh cyah see no blasted eye food at de end of all dat!! ...... an' den tuh make matters worse ...... I went wit 5 odda woman ...... BIG MISTAKE ...... cuz everybody wanted tuh do someting different ....... or be somewhere different ...... who eh in de ladies fixin up ...... by de bar gettin ah drink ...... or checkin out de scene ..... tuh see if it have any profit anywhere ..... so most of de nite was spent lookin fuh dis one ..... an' dat one!!! ...... an' ah didn't drive ...... so ah couldn't ride out ...... not me again nah! ..... lesson well learnt ...... nex time ...... is me, mehself, I and maybe ONE .... in MY car!
I real ben ...... fuh de whole party ...... meh pan was screw rite tru ..... an' as soon as Machel done ...... ah put orn meh bess beast face ...... which fren read very well ...... and we were out!
PS: .... would you believe dey had CHARMIN Toilet Tissue in de ladies rooms ..... an' various kinds too ..... dat was de only ting I was impressed wit?!

Boy Boy and the Magic Drum .... as far as I understood ..... was supposed tuh be ..... de kiddie version of AC (Alternative Concept) ...... and ....... WOW ...... it really was!!!
From the radio ads ...... I gathered that it was gonna be kinda like a play ..... or like some kinda theatrical production ...... but it wasn't ...... it was a CONCERT ..... ah hardcore concert ...... and ah bomb one at dat!!! ...... de ting was so hype ...... dat right now I feelin like I owe Machel money ..... cuz tuh tell yuh de honest trute .... so far ...... da'is de best $125 ah spend fuh de season ..... I doh even bound tuh go AC7!
The show was held at the Jean Pierre Complex ..... ah venue I doh really like fuh shows ....... cuz of de weird seating ..... and de strange acoustics etc. ...... but once I discovered dat fren had save ah seat fuh meh ..... in de second row ...... right in front de stage ...... I was cool ......
Gettin to Jean Pierre was ah breeze ..... no traffic ...... and parking was ample ...... right in de Stadium ..... I got there at about 5:35 pm ...... as the concert was scheduled to start at 6:00 pm ...... however ....... it never got underway until 6:40 pm ...... so dem chirren was in dey glee ...... dey was runnin around all over de place and playin and just having ah time ......
At about 6:45 pm ...... by the time the National Anthem was over ....... and Machel made his way onto the stage ..... it was all over ...... dem chirren come out from all over de Complex ..... and converged right in front de stage ...... there was no such thing as a second row seat anymore ...... I an' all had tuh stan up ..... cuz it was jus mass confusion ...... children everywhere ...... jumpin, wavin, screamin, singin ...... some on dey parents shoulders ..... some on ah lil small stage at de side (like de North Stand) ...... lots standin on de chairs ...... and whoa ..... Machel did not let up ..... it was straight pace ....... song after song ..... with interjections of the Boy Boy story ...... narrated by a voice that sounded very much like Rachael Price ..... but ...... about the story ...... even tho the show itself was FANTABULOUS ...... cuz I mehself get orn like ah real chile ...... I still eh know what de story about ...... cuz as ah say ....... we was gettin little pieces of it in between each set ..... so it was kinda hard tuh put all de pieces together ...... tuh really understand what de whole story was ......
One of the fun aspects fuh me ...... was the inclusion of children in many of the performances ..... accompanying Machel ..... like Boy Boy himself sang Machel's famous 'Too Young to Soca' ...... then a little girl sang Destra's part of 'Is Carnival' ...... Boy Boy even played the Pan ...... and there was a kiddie panside playing 'Magic Drum' ..... dat borse pan song Machel come out wit dis year ...... another little boy sang ah kinda Disney sounding song ...... and a couple other little girls also sang ...... oh .... and a little boy sang 'Real Unity' ..... and WOW ..... there were dancers everywhere ..... and with every performacne ..... along with costumed characters ...... it even had ah big truck that drive onto de stage when Machel was about tuh sing dat song ...... we saw moko jumbies ...... and jumping jacks (I doh know what they're really called) ..... then there were cranes on either side of the stage ..... with funnykurious characters in them ...... I think they were the characters narrating the story .......
I am such a big child ...... cuz I was just in awe ...... I had ah blast ...... an' yuh know how much people open up dey eye big ...... and gasp an' ting ..... when I tell dem dat I goin Boy Boy ..... makin comments like ...... Scene ...... da'is ah chirren show ...... you eh have no chirren ..... well ...... take it from me ...... you haven't been tuh ah real borse concert yet ...... until you've attended ah kiddie one ...... cuz dem chirren have real vibes ...... an' dey real like dey soca ..... an' dey eh fraid tuh express deyself at all!!!
I don't recall the end time ...... I believe it was minutes tuh nine ...... but at the end of the show ..... when confetti was released into the air ...... the children just went crazy ..... many of them screamed ...... and tried to ketch it ...... and some even collected it off the ground.
On the down side tho ..... I understand that the bathroom situation wasn't too good ...... in that ...... yuh had tuh go into the stands ...... up ah setta steps ...... an' den down ah setta steps ..... tuh get tuh dem .... and fuh kids ...... dat was kinda tough ..... then there weren't any visible bins around tuh throw garbage ..... so there was garbage on the ground all around ...... so perhaps the bins were too HD fuh us tuh see! ....... but ...... all in all ...... I have tuh say ....... a fun time was definitely had by all ...... and as you exited ...... you could have picked up a Boy Boy T-shirt ..... and/or the $120 storybook (autographed by Mr. Montano himself) .....
I will definitely be back next year ...... look some pics from de show .....

The Gov't still allowing that sicko Machel to perform in front ah small kids?
I doh care how popular he is, how good he music is, there is something sickening and disturbing about a hard-back man wining in such a disgusting manner in front of small children.
Ever since I saw a video of him filmed in a school yard (primary school at that) and sanctioned by the Min of Education no doubt I have never even considered listening to his music or suppporting this sicko.

Doh get meh wrong, wining is we culture, but it have time and place for it.
But other ppl do it in front of appropriate audiences. I ent see Destra, Denise Belfon, or Saucy Wow wine in front ah primary school kids.
Machel on the other hand, has no personal ethics or morals to rein him in, which is where my problem lie....
What primary school children have to see that for? We all know about Machel's perfomance and showmanship and what it is...

I am extremely liberal and open minded with my kids. they can get to experience a lot more than most their age once I am around to guide them.
I didnt go to Ladies First but I dont see a "grown-up" carnival fete as an environment to take kids. Even if you take out the achohol tsunamis, the whole atmosphere could negatively influence the way your peeps see things (for life!) and try counteracting that with shouting placitudes at them over competing with over 1,000 decibels pounding in your ears.
My kids will stick to kiddies street carnival and calypso shows. Feteing is far, far from the list of things I want to introduce them to.

Coffeedude ...... some may say ..... dat we from de ole school ...... cuz I could not comprehend either ..... at one point I was actually liming next to two of said 'parents' ..... I don't know them ...... they were just standing next to me ..... and noticed my sour face .... and decided tuh strike up ah conversation .......
So I tell dem dat I bored ...... an' I want tuh go home ..... cuz clearly I too ole fuh dis party ...... to which they both snickered in confirmation ..... as the man was there with his 15 year old daughter ...... and the woman was there with her 14 year old daughter ......
I could not believe de two of dem ...... at 14 or 15 you feel I coulda go any party ...... whether ah wit meh parents or not ...... NOOOOOO!!!
And yuh know what was very disturbing too ...... both their children were up by the stage ...... while they were way back ..... in de back of de party ..... and when Kees (or HD) was done ...... the woman's 14 year old daughter came tuh check her ...... an' as soon as she walk up tuh her mother ....... Faye-Ann Lyons' song ..... Heavy-T bumper start tuh play ...... an' if you see de wine dat chile put down fuh her mother ..... who clearly found dat it was hilarious ..... cuz all she did was laugh ...... an' tell de daughter that she have ah LIGHT BUMPER!
..... and we wonder about the youth of today!

but a a u was in ladies first too?? I only went because of a free ticket (vex that i had to reach early though) and well because it might be the only carnival fete. I thought i was the only one feeling old...but then again i does look young. But you can tell the smallies from the ones who does go to fete for e.g. wearing some tired looking flip flops as if they going to the mall. I mean I know you going to be jumping and waving but ohh gooosshhhh look a lil decent. I had a good time in any case I wasnt letting them spoil my fun and my feet hurt (the heels look cute with my outfit).
And i want someone to explain Destra's Star Trek outfits for me please....
I was feeling rell shame to go the kiddies concert but i woulda prefer that to the guntafest that happening this weekend...next year!

they dropped the Atlantik cause they aint the draw anymore... Destra is... Tizzy done in a band... El-A-Kru... if is band change well aight but to go to a band with no name... sorry 'Her Band' is like Special Guest DJ...
