Ah went tuh see Wizard of Oz last nite ...... ah friend of mine was 'covering' it ...... an' he ask meh if ah want tuh make de turn .... an' I really didn't tink twice about fal-in ..... cuz it was de opening (free cocktails) nite! ...... we reach late tho .....
Cuz he had tuh pass tru Synergy TV first ..... and altho ah does watch Synergy on TV all de time ..... last nite was my first time ..... seein de actual Synergy TV studio in real ..... when we reach ..... it had about 3 people in de waitin area ..... waitin ..... den in ah matter of minutes ..... de place jus full up wit ah setta lil chirren ...... who was dere tuh promote some dance competition dat Synergy goin' an' have some time soon ...... anyway ..... so we dey ...... pack up in dis small lil room watchin de TV ..... when jus so ..... ah man walk eeeen ...... low down de TV ...... an' start tuh boof three of de boys who was in de room ...... cuz apparently dey was suppose tuh reach fuh 7:30 pm ...... an' dey reach late ..... de man tell dem frankomen ...... dat nex time ..... if dey is tuh reach fuh 7:30 pm ...... and dey walk eeeeen at 7:31 pm ..... doh even bother tuh stay ..... jus make an about turn an' ride out one time ...... he den continued his rant ...... tellin dem dat it have thousands of people ..... who does be fighting up tuh get on de show ...... an' dat he could replace dem in ah jif ..... blah, blah, blah .....
Well ...... wit dah one ...... I file out de room (while stiflin ah laugh) ...... an' start tuh take pics (like ah paparazzi) of people in de reception area ...... yes .... if yuh see stars was in da house ..... man like ...... Wendell Manwarren (3 Canal) ...... and Rizon (ah take ah pic wit him - or gorm he nice!) ..... and de Spotrushaz crew (Bdang and Tim Starr and Meet Source) ...... and Fridge (H2O Phlo) ...... and DJs from 94.1 ..... yes ..... they were there tuh talk about dey 'WHERE IS THE LOVE' campaign launchin dis Saturday at Corner Bar ..... ah was like ah real groupie!
So anyway ..... da'is why ah reach de play late ...... an' yuh know what dat mean rite? ...... we miss de whole blasted free drinks session ...... yes ..... cuz yuh know at de opening of ting like ah play ...... it does always have lil freeness ...... lil wine an' hors d'oeuvres an' ting ..... but ..... say what ..... was no scene ..... at least de parkin was still nice ..... cuz is Queen's Hall de play showin ...... so altho we were late ...... parkin wasn't ah stress ..... anyway ..... so we hustlin inside now ...... and de gyul stop us ...... tuh verify names ..... and advise dat cells should be put on vibrate etc. etc ..... den she direct us up de steps ..... I even get ah Sacha Cosmetics Voucher (valued at $125) tuh go get ah lil pamperin ...... so ah didn't totally miss out on de freeness! ...... headin towards seatin now ...... of course de place dark ...... but thankfully dey had ushers wit torchlight ..... who directed us to a fairly good seat near the front (is only half ah de place had people tho) ....
Now yuh know I doh really write reviews ...... I does jus give my view ..... and my overall view ...... is dat de show ..... is a real chirren show ..... and altho I enjoyed it ...... cuz I AM really a big child ..... ah get ah lil taste of de torture parents does have tuh endure ...... cuz if I didn't fal wit my fren ...... is no way I was goin tuh dat ...... and den me eh have no chile ...... so again ..... is no way ah woulda go ....... but ..... if ah had ah chile ..... ah woulda probably have tuh make de turn ..... and da'is de nex ting ..... why would you put on a play ..... wit chirren in mind ..... an' have de show time set at 8:30 pm? ..... anyway ..... de story pretty much stuck tuh de story ..... except dat ..... another ting ah couldn't understand ...... was dat Dorothy (de main character) ..... is from Kansas ..... and she get lost ...... and bounce up ah Scarecrow ..... ah Tin Man ...... an' ah Lion ..... who were all clearly from Trinidad ...... cuz while Miss Dorothy was spewin ah setta yankee ..... everybody else was rankin Trini ..... but ..... other than that ..... the singing was lovely .... the costuming was lovely ..... the music was lovely ..... I could see children really enjoying the production ..... but yuh know because it was de first nite ..... it had lil faux pas an' ting ...... like de jester or de joker or de narrator or whatever he was ...... at one point he was in a box ..... dat he was supposed tuh kinda pop out of ..... and de box wouldn't open fuh nuttin ..... den de yellow brick road ..... like it needed ah lil CEPEP ..... cuz it wasn't actually made outta bricks ...... it was made outta vinyl ..... an' de ends kept rollin up ..... and miscellaneous people who happen tuh be standin on de roll up part ...... had tuh keep unrollin it ...... den at one point ..... some piece ah ting stick on Dorothy shoe .... and everywhere she walk de ting draggin on de ground ...... den when de bad witch take off her hat ...... like dey had stuff it wit brown paper .... and de brown paper fall out ..... BRAPS ..... on de stage .... rite in de spotlight ...... but ..... all in all ...... it was fun ...... and there were some very funny parts too ...... I recommend ...... I think children will really like it ..... however ..... parents ...... brace yuhself!

Lara had ah lil function fuh de Cricketers (and an aution) ..... dat had start since 7:00 pm ..... so yuh know by de time I reach ..... de lime was wrappin up .... but ..... I real glad I end up passin tru ...... cuz guess who I meet ..... CHRIS GAYLE ...... yes ...... Mr. Lara himself introduced us ..... well fuh once in my life ...... I was at ah loss fuh words ..... cuz de man KISS meh ...... so yuh know my face eh wash fuh de day ...... cuz wow ...... de man is even more edible in person (lawd how I love dark chocolate!) ..... I'm in love all over again!!! ...... anyway ..... I met Chris (oh gorm we is fren now!
) while he was on his way out ...... so after he left ..... there really was no point in staying ..... next stop ..... Zen .......
So we reach Zen ...... an' who dey ...... de same bloody people from Lara party ...... in ah kyna makeshift VIP section on de ground level ...... yes ...... could you believe it ..... us VIPs was relegated tuh de ground level ...... cuz like de real VIP section wasn't open ...... but de kix was ..... de so-called VIP was just ah block off section tuh de right ...... real jokiness ...... anyway ..... de music was pumpin ...... an' one of the English cricketers was checkin one ah meh fren ...... so he call down ah bottle of wine fuh us ...... so I dere sippin meh wine (tuh stretch it) ....... cuz yuh know I was not spendin no money in dey ..... when all of ah sudden ah start tuh feel someting on meh back ..... an' on meh butt ..... an' all up in meh neck ...... yes ..... ah man ..... askin meh tuh dance (after de fact) ..... so I start tuh laugh ..... cuz clearly he was not from here ..... cuz what Trini man does ask gyul tuh dance ...... anyway ..... turns out de man is one of de West Indies cricketers ..... Lionel ...... Grrrrrr???? ...... what West Indies team he does play for I thought ..... cuz me eh know nobody name Lionel ....... well de man tell meh he new .... and dat he from ...... oooooops ..... ah cyah remember ...... A A ..... so ah manage tuh tear mehself away from he ...... only tuh be wined up on again ..... mere minutes later ..... yes ..... there I was ...... standin up good good by mehself ....... jus me an' meh glass ah wine ..... when Sarwan now ..... start tuh back back on meh ..... tryin tuh buss ah lil small wine ...... steups ..... de whole scene in dah VIP ..... was jus pure tustyness ...... an' I doh know if is cuz dem fellas win de wisden cup or whatever ..... an' dey was feelin like champions ...... or if it is dat dey feel ...... dat because of who dey is ...... dat dey could jus play deyself ..... an' wine up on random gyuls ..... clearly bruthas was out tuh palance an' take ah lil las lap ...... before dey 20/20 match dis weekend ...... oh ...... an' talkin bout dat ...... Mr. Lionel was so smitten (wit me) ..... dat he tell meh ..... dat he want meh dey (at de 20/20 match) ..... an' dat he go organise ah ticket fuh meh ...... well you know when it was time tuh leave ..... In sports, fame and victory can go to players' heads, if you know what I mean. But you were lucky to meet Chris Gale who always seems to be a cut above the rest and reserved.He is probably a good Captain on and off the field. I don't think Gale is one to break away - not that breaking away is bad only where, when, and with who. The only Lionel I could think about is Baker.
