Ah jus discover .... dat ah have ah Yellow Breast!
I've been monitoring ah lil situation .....
One day ...... about 2 weeks ago ..... as I pull de curtain ...... tuh open de door tuh meh porch ...... ah see dis bird fly off wit one speed!! ...... now da'is nuttin new eh ...... cuz birds always on my porch ...... I practically live wit dem ...... an' if dey eh on de porch ..... is because dey on meh kitchen counter ...... eatin meh damn fruits!!
What was weird ..... about that particular 'fly away' ...... was de spot where de bird fly away from ......
You see ...... I have this plant ..... it's a dead plant ....... it's been dead fuh umpteen years ...... and I just never got rid of it ....... cuz when it died ..... altho it turn brown and dry-up ...... it remained intact ...... not ah leaf had drop off ....... so really an' truly ..... wit its new zero-maintenance status .... and new colour ..... which actually matched de pot better ...... I jus leave it dey .....
Anyway ..... it was said plant ...... dat de bird fly out from ..... and upon investigation ...... I discovered that birdie ...... who muzbe was likin de lil camouflage vibes ..... decide tuh build house rite dey ...... eeeen de dead plant ..... so of course de leaves now ..... dey startin tuh drop off ..... but ...... da'is no scene really ...... de real scene ..... is de fact that I did not notice when this nest was being constructed ..... and I does go on my porch every day .... I never saw de nest! ..... an' I doh know how I coulda miss de 'under construction' session ...... cuz is not one ah dem open-up flatish nests yuh know ..... is dem big close up ones ..... dat does look like ah ball of wool ..... an' it have ah lil itsy bitsy hole ..... so yuh cyah see shit inside ..... so me eh know what it have in it ...... me eh know if it have eggs ..... or if it have lil tweety birds ...... ah doh know ..... but what ah do know ..... is dat either bird nests comin prefab now ..... or dem bird an' dem ..... gettin dem Chinee tuh build dey ting ...... cuz one day it really wasn't ..... and de next day it WAS ......
So from Iguana in meh ceilin ...... tuh ants all over de place ....... tuh now ah little birdie livin on meh porch! ..... an' hear nah ...... no matter how ah try tuh capture little tweety ...... all she only doin is flyin away ..... talk about camera shy ..... de only time ah was able tuh take out ah pic ...... was in de nite ..... while she was sleepin (hmmmm dis didn't sound too good nah!) ...... cuz all de fly ..... she was flyin away during de day time ..... come nite time ..... my gyul was real stayin put ..... altho she was kyna watchin meh in ah kyna way eh ..... like wha de hell?!

Look de dead plant ...... and if yuh look good ...... yuh will see de nest ......

.... and that is little Tweety Bird peepin out ..... probably wonderin why ah doh leave her alone .....

..... and there she is again (awwww too tweet) ..... givin me dat look again ......
Anyway ...... out of curiosity ...... ah went on de net ..... tuh try tuh find out ...... Tweety Bird's identity ...... and could you believe I actually found her ..... yes ...... ah find her rite in de Trini section of de worldwide web ...... on some website called "Birds of TT" ...... go check it out ..... was a very interesting read ...... especially de part below ..... which reminded me very much of us human beings ......

Local Names (fuh Tweety): Sugarbirds, Sucrier, Banana Bird, Yellow-breast, Paw-paw Bird, Marley Quit, Bessie Coban, Honey-sucker, Yellow See-see
- Several nests may be built, with some used only as sleeping quarters. (Wha .... birdie stabbin cabins .... Playerz!)
- Different nests may be used on different nights for roosting, with one to several birds sharing a sleeping nest. (hmmmm .... Playerz who are also polygamous!)
- Both the male and female build separate nests. (you go girl ... you independent female bird you!)
- Prior to breeding the male spends his time singing around his own nest and also in the area surrounding a female's nest to attract her as a mate. (dis is de only ting dat lil different tuh humans .... cuz you know no man eh gettin tru wit no singing shit .... is cash only!)
- Before a female lays her eggs, the male remains very close (within 2 m) to his mate. He is very protective as they feed and gather materials for a brooding nest (different from her roosting nest). Once the eggs have been laid and incubation has begun the male becomes far less attentive. He goes back to singing in the vicinity of his own nest and courting other females. (Steups - typical male)
Gyul, this is just what I need after working my ass of all night.Lol
Love the pics as usual.
Sure sounds like some male birds do have a lot in common with some males.
"Prior to breeding the male spends his time singing around his own nest and also in the area surrounding a female's nest" I think for we can substitute talking shit for the singing.
"Once the male/player notices that he has become far less attractive, he goes back to singing and courting other females" Ain't that the truth!?
The last Banana bird I met did one good thing, he pointed me to your blog, so I´m getting plenty of laughs.
I wonder if what yuh have on your porch is a birdie stabbin cabin? lol

Yellow Breast actually looks like what I know to be a kiskidee .
For a minute dey, you had meh fooled, thinking you getting jaundice. (^_-)

Here is a better photo of the kiskidee also known as Pitangus sulphuratus.
The yellow breast, the white neck, the brown wings and back and the stripes on the head are very distinctive features, and clearly seen in your photos.
