I was one of those ...... who get caught up in de whole ..... Jah Cure was in jail ..... and now he out hype ...... so there was no question ..... dat I woulda be on de inside fuh de 07 concert!! ..... de 09 one however ...... ah was in two minds ...... cuz it was kinda like ...... been there, done that ...... but oh gorm ...... 'anytime yuh need ah lover call on me' ..... dat song was real tiefin meh head ...... so ...... at exactly 6:07 pm ...... on Saturday April 11 ...... I made de decision ...... tuh go de damn concert an' done ...... da'is after days of much procrastination eh ...... so of course by dat time ..... is no way I coulda call any possible links ...... ah had tuh go look fuh ah ticket (GASP!) .....
So not knowing where tuh get tickets ...... ah pull out meh phone book ...... an' ah call Cache ...... cuz dem does sell ticket fuh everyting ..... and ...... just as I tort ..... dey had ...... so ah fly down tuh de Mall now ...... cuz it was done about 6:15 pm ..... and de Mall closing 7:00 pm ..... well Jah ...... if you see people in Cache ...... like everybody was doin dey lil last minute shoppin fuh de concert ..... cuz de amount ah people I see in de same outfit dat nite ...... confirmed dat dey DID shop at Cache ..... and how was I able tuh recognise Cache outfits in de concert you ask ...... well ...... ah memorize all de clothes in de store ...... cuz is about 20 blasted minutes ..... dat I end up jus waitin and standing around (tuh buy one little ticket) ...... yes ..... like it only had one person workin in Cache dat day ..... de Cashier ..... an' she was real multi-taskin ...... answerin phone ...... cashin ...... sellin tickets ...... and tryin tuh refund ah customer fuh she useless Neyo tickets!!!
..... now as you would have gathered from my Jah Cure 07 review ...... General Admission dis rounds ..... was definitely ah no no .... so ..... I grudgingly forked out ..... THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ..... and secured a VIP ticket!
So ah reach back home now ...... an' ah start tuh 'prepare' ..... cuz wit memories of all de tizzickness last time ...... ah tell mehself ..... I eh on no late scene ...... ah goin' down early ...... den too ..... ah really wasn't in de mood fuh no parkin scenes either ...... altho dey had advertise 'secured' parkin in de Barracks ...... Grrrrrr!!?? ...... you see how far de Barracks is from de King George Park ...... anyway ..... so after ah lil two hours of jibbin ...... was time tuh get ready and head out .......
Ah reach down de road about 10:45 pm ..... and was pleasantly surprised tuh learn ...... dat 'secured' parking was also available in de King George de Fifth Park (fuh VIPs) ...... nice .... so we drivin eeeeen de Park now ..... an' ah Police stop we tuh state de obvious (aka 'advise') ..... which is ..... dat exactly where we was driving eeeeeen ....... is exactly where we was suppose tuh drive eeeeeen (duh) ...... oh ...... and he also tell us ..... dat we is not tuh pay nobody fuh de parkin ..... so like it had some pipers in de car park itself ...... tryin tuh jumbie people ..... WOW ..... impressive ...... de Police was actually workin ..... altho ah doh understand why dey didn't just remove said piper elements from de car park ..... instead of warning patrons of their presence!!?!
So anyway ..... yuh gyul get ah real nice park ....... or so I tort ...... cuz as it turns out ...... where we park was actually near de Backstage entrance ...... and NOT de VIP entrance ....... so yuh gyul ....... deck off in she 5" heels ...... had tuh brave ah setta bush ...... while tryin tuh hike tuh de Serpentine Road side of de Park ....... which by the way had ah long walkway set up wit port-o-floor an' ting ...... but duh ...... why ....... cuz most people fuh VIP woulda be entering from de bush side ...... and not de port-o-floor side!!
Anyway ...... so after having successfully maneuvered all de big-ass pothole in de bush (which caused some Beach House in Couva flashbacks) ..... we were now inside de dance wit much ease ...... nobody was by de entrance ...... we jus walk straight tru ...... when ah reach eeen now ..... de layout kinda confuse meh lil bit ...... so ah had tuh take ah lil two minutes tuh ketch meh bearings ...... and of course sess out de crowd too ...... cuz yes ...... there was ah crowd ...... which made me realise ....... dat clearly ...... VIP ...... is de new general ....... cuz de amount ah 'General' VIPs I see in dey ...... but ..... with ah price difference of only about $140 ..... and tinkin dat de VIP $300 included drinks ...... I coulda understand why more people woulda be willin tuh pay ..... tuh be ah VIP fuh de nite ...... but ....... generally ....... right away ...... ah coulda tell dat de concert was ah much smaller scene ..... dan its 07 version!
So anyway ..... wit crowd sessed out ...... was time tuh hit de bar ...... when Grrrrrrr??? ...... to my amazement ...... I see ..... PRICE LISTS ...... at de back of de bar ...... starrin big and bold ...... but why I tort??!! ....... cuz I didn't want tuh believe ....... dat after payin THREE HUNDRED BRAN NEW CRIPS DOLLARS ...... dat I had tuh now pay fuh drinks ...... ah get dotish one time ...... cuz dat meant ..... dat de $300 price tag only afforded you entry an' ah park ...... FULL STOP ...... well I was flabbergasted tuh say de least ...... but ..... being female ...... yuh does learn from early ..... tuh always walk wit yuh lil vex money ...... so is ah good ting I walk with ah lil change ..... otherwise woulda been salt and scents fuh me ...... Jah Melody ...... now ah like meh Jah Melody eh ...... but oh gorm ..... before de man could even bless we wit ah lil tune ....... de man start tuh benn an' complain (in ah rankin Jamaican accent - isn't he Trini?) ..... bout how de Promoters saw it fit tuh bring eeeeen ah live Band ...... fuh Richie Spice and Jah Cure ..... but fuh dey own peeps ...... SALT ..... now oh gorm ...... Jah Melody muzbe perform fuh about half hour (if so long) ...... he really expected de promoters tuh hire his live band too ...... oh gosh come nah man ....... anyway ...... after his brief rant ...... he delivered a lovely performance ....... cuz hear nah ...... accent or no accent ..... band or no band ...... he good ...... de man have talent ......

I doh know if it is dat she have some kinda lifelong contract wit Jah Cure or sumtin ...... tuh go all around de world wit him ..... and 'bring him out' ...... but my gyul was dere again dis year ..... and she did not disappoint ...... in tru Empress style ...... she came out ..... totally spoke shit ..... and tried tuh cover it up (de shit dat is) ..... wit strategically spewed sprinkles of dat ever popular rasta chant ...... ..... an' talkin about clothes ...... it was basically more of de same (as de 07 concert) ...... altho dis time ..... amongst de typically uptown peeps dat does normally constitute ah VIP section ...... was much fewer sistrens and bredrens ..... deck off in full rasta gear ..... but LOL ...... most ah dem who chose tuh 'represent' ..... was dress more Jah Jah ..... dan de real Jah Jah peeps fuh de nite ...... i.e. de performers ..... I mehself was tempted tuh rock ah lil bobo-shanti wrap eh ..... an' don de red, green and gold ...... but ah end up jus goin wit ah different kinda fabulous

At minutes tuh (3 that is - LOL) ...... it was all over ...... Jah Cure had crooned his last tune ..... and the VIP crowd very calmly made their way out de venue ..... and again .... leaving was breeze ..... and gettin home was ah breeze ...... all in all ...... I have tuh say ...... dat de general vibe dis year ...... was a lot calmer ...... I guess cuz it was a lot smaller ...... and den too ah went VIP ...... and doh get meh wrong eh .... Iz a gyul could fit eeeeen anywhere ..... scene if you like Jah Cure so much you might enjoy Gentleman and the Far East Band... they reaching in ZEN in a few weeks... I eh a ZEN Fan but I go be dey...

Richie Spice is boss as well, I saw him perform in NYC last summer. He doesn't disappoint.
LOL, I thought I was the only one that cyaa stand when pretend rastas chant down "Jah Rastafari" and wave the flag; not even knowing the meaning of their actions.
Glad you enjoyed the concert though, even if yuh had to buy drinks and climb through bush in the parking area in yuh stilettos!
