Everybody know by now ...... dat de price of newspapers went up right ...... yep ...... from $1.00 ...... tuh ah whole $2.00!!
Now when ah had first hear dat ...... ah real bawl eh ...... ah was in ah lil quandary ...... cuz I cyah afford 3 papers ..... every day ...... fuh 12 months ...... at $2.00 each (and $3.00 on de weekends) ...... and I need my papers ...... I (wuzdescene) cyah survive without papers!! ....... anyway ....... at de time ...... lucky fuh me ...... none ah meh subscriptions was due fuh renewal yet ..... but that was then ...... and now de first renewal fast approachin (in about two months time) ..... so of course ..... in de back ah meh mind ..... all now so ...... I was done startin tuh study ...... which one tuh drop (cuz at $2.00 one ah dem go hadda go) ......
UNTIL .....
De Newsday went and put God out dey thoughts (like ah Atheist) ...... and fire Kevin Baldeosingh (who is ah well known Atheist) ....... fuh outin ah Roman Catholic Priest (a man who is no Atheist) ....... yes ...... you could believe dat?! ...... anyway ...... da'is ah whole odda more complex story ...... de point ah was tryin tuh make is ...... dat de Newsday ...... wit dat one dotish action ...... suddenly made my decision real easy ...... come renewal time ...... was tuh arse wit dem ..... an' ah woulda jus keep de Express and de Guardian full time .....
UNTIL ......
Ah open up meh Newsday dis mornin ..... and discover ...... dat de Queen ...... yes The Queen of England ..... have ah Trini Chauffeur ...... Eh??? 
Well yuh know ah start tuh tink it over one time (meh Newsday decision that is) ...... cuz seriously ..... I cyah blank de Newsday again ..... wit important news stories like dat ...... is no way I could say nay! ..... cuz no other newspaper cover this story yuh know ..... so let's say ah had done brace dem ...... how would I have known that Trickidadians are still thriving around the world ...... how would I have known that the Queen have six Chauffeurs ..... of which ...... de Trini one had tuh be de idiot ..... how would I have known dat sometimes she does tell dem tuh take ah hike .... and she does drive sheself ...... how would I have known ...... that even if you live in England ...... and you work for the Queen ..... and you're spoken to in the Queen's English ..... that that does not in any way influence how YOU speak ..... de man tell de reporters "These is" ....... LOL ...... he tell dem dat de pay eh too good ...... and if dey want ...... he doh mind moonlightin fuh dem under ah kinda PH vibes ...... Lawd! ..... why it is dis man went tuh England wit he Trini quick money mentality and embarrass we ...... why it is he went and put all de Queen business out on de street ...... why? ....... instead of de man ..... pickin up ah lil english book ..... and tryin tuh learn tuh speak properly ...... so he could work he way up tuh Head Chauffeur ...... so he could make more money ...... he lookin tuh sellout de Queen fuh small money ...... and den wastin said small money ..... hookin-up wit Hookers and callin dem he gyul ..... like if he's flickin Richard Gere in Pretty Woman!
Ahhhh ...... to quote a friend of mine ...... "he's ah ass or ah marble?" ...... was it really worth the 1,000 pounds?! ..... and are we going to need Visas tuh go England now?
But ...... on another note ...... the dilemma persists ....... which newspaper(s) do I really keep ...... cuz at de end of de day ....... all ah dem does do and say some shit at some point anyway!

Hmmm, after the piracy by Somali pirates (de real ting, not tiefing DVDs) I remember you mention Trinis all over de place. So why surprised that one driving de Queen (mad it look like)?
To make the story worse, is that is a Trini who before had a fairly decent rep here, unlike the J'cans who were asked to get visas some long time now.
Is now self we go havta get visas, and I hear dey want to implement a bond fuh visitors, to be paid by the visitee... and repaid when the visitor departs.
So far, I ent too clued up on that part, but I go investigate and keep yuh up to date.

Fuss, you does real keep me inform you know, better than the express or guardian (the only two papers i read at home...the newsday does just annoy me).
Secund, I too almost catspraddle when I first saw the price raise to $2.00. There I was, walking into the Unipet Quickshoppe, picking up the Express, handing the casher $1 and looking to stroll away when she say..."darlin is $2 now" O_O! I must be watch the $2 sign on the papers for an exclusive minute...just dumbfounded. I ask she when they did this betrayal to society start... apparently that was the fuss day. I ask the poor woman who only doing she lil wuk, how the poor man/oman will survive now...$2 for papers? I held it together and scrunge up a next dollar and walk with the papers but I mustbe text everybody i know in case the world coming to an end and is only me eh know.
Thirdly, ROFL! Tears for the chauffeur oui. "I’m what they call a first chauffeur which means there is the head chauffeur, deputy chaffeur then meself." ....the man real buss files.
Good luck with your decision. But that $2 brokes meh.

LOL .... fuh me Newsday does more 'amuse' dan 'annoy' .....
..... and the price increase had more of an emotional effect ..... than financial ..... cuz as ah say ..... I doh really go out and buy papers ..... I have subscriptions .....
The financial shock came later on ...... when I actually calculated de effect de increase would have ...... cuz to get all de papers all de time ..... fuh ah year ...... I would now have to pay $2814.04 i.e.:
Express - $990.02
Newsday - $834.00
Guardian - $990.02

wow! I had an Express subscription when they were offering it at a discounted price. It came up to about $350 or so for the year.
Pace with that price now yes.

When de Express was still $1.00 ...... the regular cost for a MONDAY - SUNDAY subscription ..... was $495.01 ...... so now dat is $2.00 ..... I assume de cost will be double de 495 ......
My renewal was due in September 2008 ...... and for the period August 8 - September 8, 2008 ..... they ran a 'SPECIAL' ...... where MONDAY - SUNDAY was reduced to $366 ...... so if you renewed within that period ..... or became a new customer ...... that is the rate you would have paid ..... so it sounds like you got that 'once in a lifetime' discounted rate .......

As for the Trini driver of the queen, he ain't giving you guys a bad name. That story did not even make the news over here. besides, I only met nice Trinis on the net. So,who cares about one bad apple?

I personally abhor the Newsday. I find they layout real horrible. It more like a weekly (Bomb, Blast) dat does come out daily.

I know nuttin cyar really replace the 'feel' of de newspaper in yuh hand but remember it always have the online versions and dey does come out long before the morning hard copy. The only reason I does even bodder tuh go tuh the Newsday website is so ah could macco dey 'Photos of the Day'. Dey drop dat and I drop dem.
I does continue tuh marvel when all three carry the same story buh each wid dey own version of de same facts. I does call it 'news gathered maccoiously and reported in ah bacchanalian way'.
As fuh dat story on de 'Driving Mrs ELizabeth'? Trinis need tuh calm dong and stop going into hysterics whenever ah Trini abroad do someting dotish. I could never understand why people does say dey does 'feel shame' because of the actions of some idiot who happen tuh be ah Trini.

If I don't buy Newsday I will save $834.00 per year. The savings, along with the KB incident and other things, makes it so much easier to decide
