Billie Jean .... the kid is not my son!

So last week Sunday ..... I readin papers ..... when dat ad below jump out at meh ..... and is not because ah doh know who de chile fadda is eh (cuz I eh have no chile) ...... is jus dat ah never see anyting like dat before ..... ah mean ...... we all know it have home pregnancy tests ...... but ah home chile fadda test? ...... in Trinidad?!

..... well yuh know me ..... one time ah start tuh tink all kyna dotishness ...... like what Trini woman ...... gettin ah Alleged Trini Father ...... tuh do dat?! ..... and why it is she doh know who de chile fadda is ...... and if she doh know who de chile fadda is ..... den how many of dem kits she go hadda buy? ....... and yes ....... de whole scene may be ah cool scene ....... i.e. 'in the privacy of your own home' ...... and 'Affordable'? ....... and 'Painless' ....... and 'Simple' ....... and 'Confidential' ...... but HELLO ...... you know ..... dat as soon as Alleged Trini Father discover dat he IS in fact de chile fadda ...... all ah dat fluffery goin out de door right?! ..... cuz having chirren is not sumtin yuh could keep ....... 'Confidential' ....... and raisin dem certainly eh go be ...... 'Affordable' ...... or 'Simple' ...... or 'Painless' ...... and about dat ..... 'Peace of Mind' ...... all of ah sudden dat go turn into ...... "Wait nah - dat chile is really Piece of Mine?!"





But ..... under all de ole talk ..... dis is a very serious product eh ..... an' I glad it reach Trini ..... cuz is high time ..... dat dem deadbeat absentee faddas out dey ...... start gettin make out ...... cuz apparently it have plenty ah dem around ...... who not in dey chile life ..... an' who doh give two farts about livin up tuh dey responsibility ..... some ah dem does even go as far as tuh say ...... dat de chile eh dey own ..... jus so dey wouldn't have tuh pay chile maintenance an' ting ...... den ..... one day ...... de chile does grow up (witout dat 'fadda figure' tuh straighten dey ass out) ...... morph into ah bandit ..... and start tuh shoot up de country!!!

Now ah know yuh would probably say ...... dat dis is some seriously far-fetched shit I talkin eh ...... but tink about dis ...... dat little HOME PATERNITY DNA Collection Kit ..... could actually be the first step in our fight against crime!!

I wonder if men saw the ad ...... I wonder if they were moved by it ..... I wonder if they were happy/relieved to see such a product available ...... I wonder if they care!



PS:  ..... haven't seen the ad in the newspapers since .....

    I'm wondering how the law looks at it in T&T? Over here you can only use those particular tests with consent of the person. If you have him tested without his knowledge the test is thrown out of court.

    Hmmm, I agree with your line of thought that if these tests identify the father of the child then the father may play an active and positive role in the child's life. More often than not, young men that do not have a strong male figures in their lives often go down the path of delinquency.

    Sadly, DNA tests always remind me of the The Maury Show. Where women carry all 3, 4 ,5 men to test and see which one is the father!
