3 Canal come dong ....
Last nite ah pass tru Queen's Hall fuh de 3 Canal FREEDOM.COM concert!
..... cuz after seein dem de odda day at Fete de la Musique ..... FREEDOM.COM was not one to miss ...... besides ..... it was also a fundraiser for local actress Cecilia Salazar ...... who was recently diagnosed with a heart condition ....... and ...... it was ah kinda tribute tuh de late Sheldon 'Shel Shok' Benjamin too ...... and ...... it was their Emancipation Concert ...... so ...... it was kinda like killin bout four bird wit one stone ...... and at $250 ...... fuh all ah dat scenes ...... yuh couldn't go wrong .....
It started at 7:00 ...... wit some kinda 'reception' ...... since it was the 'Gala Fundraiser' nite ..... but ...... yuh know me ...... by de time I reach ....... I only had time tuh walk eeen ...... and stan up fuh two minutes (contemplating whether tuh get ah drink) ...... when de lights start tuh flicker ..... to indicate dat it was time tuh be seated ...... as the show was scheduled to start at 8:00 ......
So wit no beverage tuh nicen we (me an' 2 frens) head beforehand ...... we went eeeen and sit dong ..... in some nice seats I might add (middle-ish - front-ish) ....... tuh wait fuh de highness off de music instead ...... then ...... about 20 minutes later (i.e. 8:10) ...... the drum sounds off ....... and from then on ...... was straight pace ...... Lights ..... drums ..... drama ....... and real action!!!
The show started off with spoken word ...... with Muhamad doing one of his very thought provoking pieces (to the beating of the drum) ..... then one by one ...... the band members emerged ...... de cut+clear crew ...... den Muhamad exits the stage ...... and three chicks come on (Isoke, Mandisa and I didn't get the third chick's name) and do their spoken word bit ..... then they exit ...... and BOW ...... out of the darkness ...... into de light (of front stage) ...... Wendell, Roger and Stanton explode onto the stage ...... and burst into song ...... an' ah cyah even remember what song dey start off wit nah ...... cuz LAWD ...... other than de electric awe inspiring music dat is 3 Canal ..... where we get dem fellas from ...... talk about easy on de eyes ...... meh eyes was loose .....
And oh gorm ...... de outfits ...... dem fellas eh playin dey could dress nah ...... talk about style an' fashion and ruggedness ...... dey was lookin sooooo good eh ...... an' ah understand it was thanks tuh The Cloth ...... dem shirts dey had orn was some real bad-ass shirts ...... and then there's Wendell ...... where Wendell come out from ..... cuz again ..... LAWD ...... dat man is one fine specimen ...... God take he time wit Wendell Manwarren!!!
Anyway ..... as ah was sayin ...... de show started off wit ah bang ..... and pretty much continued in dat same vein ...... I real wanted tuh ramajay mehself ...... which of course couldn't happen ..... cuz it was ah sit dong show?! ...... I'm sorry ...... I doh understand how yuh could have ah 3 Canal show in ah sit-down venue like Queen's Hall ....... it jus too stoosh ...... 3 Canal + Queen's Hall jus doh add up ...... an' ah tell Wendell dat ..... yes ..... after de show ..... ah went backstage ...... and right after ah tell him ....... dat ah still IN LOVE wit him (tuh which his reply made me blush from caramel brown tuh cherry red) ..... ah tell him doh have no show dey again!!
But ..... all in all ...... altho ah had tuh contain mehself much .... it was still a very enjoyable show ..... wit real vibes ..... and some real borse lighting ...... and even a few guest artistes ...... like Nickolai Salcedo (Gyazette) ...... Darius Balgobin (Cabezon) ..... and Sheldon Holder (12 Band) ...... who were invited to take part in a 'freedom' song ..... where they were asked to compose a verse ...... and come sing it ...... which went down quite powerful ...... even Kiwan Landreth-Smith (3 Canal Guitarist) did a verse ...... den it had people like Ataklan who I just love too ..... he did two very different songs ..... real mellow ...... he even make us turn tuh de person next tuh us ...... and tell dem 'I LOVE YOU' ..... dat was real kix ...... then they surprised us with Nigel Rojas (Orange Sky) ...... and WOW ..... dat is de next concert I have tuh go to ..... ah Orange Sky concert ...... dat man was da bomb ...... talk about lyrics and vibes ........ I thoroughly enjoyed that surprise!
I think Nigel Rojas was the last guest artiste ..... and lucky fuh us he turned up as a surprise act ....... cuz one of de advertised acts ...... Brother Resistance ...... who ah hear is notorious fuh always bein late ..... never made it on time fuh de show ...... yeah ...... he reach when de show done ......
But ...... all's well that ends well ...... no love lost ..... de show went on ..... and it was ah blast ...... to 3 Canal ..... I say more power to you brothers ...... y'all are da bomb ...... BOOM UP!!!

Gyul I ALWAYS have my camera ...... but right now ..... dat is ah whole drama ...... cuz ah can't get de pics off de damn ting wit de cable ..... so ah have tuh get either a new cable ...... or ah card reader (hopefully some time soon) .....
..... but phototakeouters get ban doh ...... no flash photography ...... so I would not have been able to take pics anyway ......
