.... a light(er) Sunday post
Last nite ah went tuh see ah band called Gyazette ..... they performed in a Pub called Shakers ..... the band was pretty good ...... but Shakers ..... wow ..... dat place weird fuh days ...... always!!
Now ah could give yuh de long version of that story eh ...... but because is Sunday ...... and we takin it 'light' ...... ah will give yuh de short version instead ..... which fuh me ...... adds up tuh a grand total of ...... one night out ....... requires ...... two days in ....... so today ...... being IN day number one ....... ah had was tuh go get some soup ....... cuz altho ah wasn't really hung over ...... ah was feelin lil iffy ....... like as tho ah lil bug (aka de flu) was lookin tuh ramajay inside meh head ......
So ah jump eeen meh car ....... after stopping tuh take pics of a butterfly and a snake ...... and headed straight fuh China Palace ......
Is ah kyna Trini butterfly ..... red, white and black ......
...... if yuh look good ..... yuh will see de snake ...... it brown and yellow ...... jus like de bamboo!
Anyway ...... lucky fuh me ...... when ah reach China Palace ...... meh soup was ready ...... and I was outta there in seconds ...... so again ..... since is Sunday ..... ah say leh meh take de scenic route back home ..... which was ...... tuh pass tru St. James instead ...... so ah drive out Ellerslie Plaza ...... continued tru St. Clair ...... reach Tragarete Road ..... and WHEYYYYY ..... look what I see ......
Like Curry Masala do over dey signage ...... yes ...... cuz back in de day ...... November 2008 tuh be exact ..... dey wasn't only sellin Sada Roti and Bake ...... dey was sellin Pie's too (see below) ...... so ah see like dey muzbe read about deyself on WUZDESCENE ...... and decide tuh sort out dey bizness ......
An' talkin about sortin out bizness ...... ah went Movietowne on Friday ...... an' ah notice dat dey have some bizness tuh 'sort out' too ......
De mission was tuh check out de Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival ......
Now ah had tuh choose ah flim on timing ...... which was not necessarily one dat ah wanted tuh see ...... cuz de one dat was showin ...... at de time dat I was available ...... was some Michael Jackson tribute ....... and some gangster movie wit puppets ...... ah tink it called Not Inna Dat ......
Now de Michael Jackson tribute ...... was sumting dat dey had show on TV ahready ...... which I didn't realise when ah was forkin out meh $25 ....... but ...... was no scene ...... cuz oh gorm ...... de odda movie was real kicks!!! ....... now ah didn't see de whole ting eh ...... cuz yes ah reach late ....... fuh ah 15 minutes movie!! ...... by de time I reach ..... de movie was done in full swing ...... but from what I saw ...... de movie was about ah man named Herbert ...... who end up gettin chain-up tuh join ah gang ....... only problem is ...... Herbert was innately a good man (just like all de 'good' men/boys dat gettin kill these days) ...... so doing bad did not come easy tuh him ..... which the Gang leader (Santana) sought tuh rectify ...... by sending Herbert out on ah 'job' ...... tuh prove himself worthy ...... so ..... reluctantly .... Herbert set out on his first gangster 'job' ....... which was tuh go retrieve some money from ah shopkeeper ..... on behalf of Santana ...... which actually end up goin down good fuh Herbert ..... cuz when de shopkeeper denied owing Santana money ..... Herbert (again reluctantly) beat up de shopkeeper ...... and dat kyna sealed de deal ...... he was now one ah dem ...... so ...... with Herbert's successful initiation ...... next on de agenda fuh Santana and Gang (which btw was called de 'Snake Gang') ...... was ah lil crime spree ...... where they went and rob de SECOND CITIZENS BANK (LMAO) ...... it was then that Herbert realised that ...... that life wasn't for him ...... especially when Santana jumped into the getaway car ..... and told Herbert tuh toes it ...... even tho crew an' crew was still inside de Bank ...... it was then that he realised that Santana was only fuh himself ..... and really didn't care about de ress ah dem ...... anyway ..... short story shorter ..... Police end up ketchin up wit dem ..... and de gang members end up vouchin fuh Herbert's innocence ....... sayin that he wasn't really part of the gang blah, blah, blah ...... so Herbert end up gettin off de hook (and reverting to his former 'do good' lifestyle) ...... and de ress ah dem end up gettin take down ...... it was ah kyna unlikely story ...... but ...... crick crack ...... de message was ...... CRIME DOH PAY ...... and hey ..... it was ah helluva funny way tuh convey it ..... I recommend!
Anyway ...... of course I couldn't just go see a movie and ride out ...... so ah end up goin fuh drinks in de Fiesta Plaza place ........ and look what I will see ...... now how hard it is ...... tuh paint eeeen ah nex 'N' in dat PERSONEL??? ...... oh gosh man ..... is Movietowne ...... better dan dat Chin!!!

actually yes ...... Gyazette is de local verison ..... of de same Gazette dat dey eh print de CoE in ...... that's why there's a 'Y' after the 'G' ..... tuh give it dat local, dialect flavour .......
and yeah boy ...... fuh true eh ..... anyting goes in TnT ....... but I am certain dat is personnel dey wanted tuh say ...... just like I was certain ...... dat it wasn't Pie's pies dey was sellin ...... but simply Pies ......

In all my trys at getting butterflys to pose for me I never got that trinidad black, red and white one - nice

I don't photograph snakes. It's just me and snakes could never agree.
I hope the TnT Movie Festival is a big hit and we should relate to local movies even more than US ones even though we are an unofficial state

.... butterflies are de worse tuh try an' capture in ah picture ...... but like dat one was ah lil half dead (just like Trinidad fuh tru) ...... de ting eh budge ...... and as fuh de snake ...... I hate em ...... but I took that pic tuh show ....... dat not only do we have snake in balisier ...... we have dem in bamboo too ......
...... and that's exactly what I like about the TnT Film Festival ...... we could see ourselves ..... I think that's why that puppet movie was so funny ..... cuz it was so typically Trini .....
