Apparently ....... the US Embassy in Trinidad ...... real pissin off ...... real people lately ....... bracin Trinis left, right and centre ..... and while most of the peeved victims ..... chose tuh write angry Letters to the Editor ...... my gyul below ...... went two steps further!
Not only did she write the US Embassy ....... but she also went de technology route ...... and put she grouse on YouTube!
Now is ah real long video eh ...... the gist being ...... dat she man get deny ...... and she vex ...... on his behalf ..... and also on behalf of all de odda people who get deny too ..... cuz she say de policy is dishonest!
She is an American citizen ...... he is ah Trini ....... or a Tobagonian maybe (yeah he look more like ah 'bago gigolo)
What was interesting to me ...... is that all de time ...... we readin in de papers about people gettin denied ...... but we wuzen seein who dey is ..... well ..... now we have a face ...... however ....... that wasn't as interesting as the part of the video ...... where she states that because ..... not many people in Trinbago have internet ..... she had tuh complete de online application fuh she man ..... Grrrrrrr?? ..... who in Trinbago doh have internet??!! (odda dan she man!) ..... now if she had say dat most people have BLINK (wit she man being one ah dem) ...... ah woulda understand dat ..... cuz dat woulda mean dat he internet DOWN ..... and she have tuh do de online application fuh him ..... but please ..... everybody in Trinbago have internet ..... we nearly first world lady ..... 2020 comin!
Anyway ...... de woman say ....... dat she eh doin dis fuh spite or nuttin like dat!? ....... and I say ....... more power tuh you sista ...... you fight fuh man! ...... and Thank You on behalf of de rest of us (Trinis) dat dis may benefit!

I'm sure I appreciate the sentiments involved. I actually have not applied for a US Visa for many years and due to the fact that I know so much shit going on I'm not really interested in going to the damn country. I may however have to do so in the future to pass through America to connect to go elsewhere.
But the woman mean real business boy she went into the embassy under a guise to see how the man was making out. Now that is Type A, taking charge, taking numbers and kickin butt woman!

All my life I gettin dem 10 year Visa ....... cool cool ..... and de current one expirin in 4 years ....... and in dem four years ..... ah still eh go have no money ...... ah still eh go have no house ....... ah still eh go have no land ..... ah still eh go have no chirren ...... ah still eh go have no husband ....... an' ah probably still eh go use it (cuz fuh de past 6 years ah never use it!!!) ....... so ..... in odda words ..... ah still eh go have no TIES ...... so I really hope ...... dat by dat time ...... tings change (fuh de better) ...... or else ...... go be crapaud smoke my pipe too ...... an' den ah go have tuh go on YouTube an' make ah video!!!

The US Embassy would normally not comment on specific cases but they could still feel the pressure. I suppose Carol Craig's man couldn't convince the visa people he would return to TnT and not want to work or freeze up in US. Does he not have property, family and good friends in Tobago? Even shares in a reef boat or a crab and dumpling enterprise? The visa people are judging Trinbago people by their standards. They are forgetting the main point; Tobago is a paradise.

and LOL ..... I not sure if de man from Tobago yuh know ...... I jus say dat ...... cuz he look like dem men who does be on de beach tryin tuh pick up tourists ..... I think he's actually Trini!

Lol, the man reminds me of one of the actors in cool runnings.
Now I like what the woman is doing, speaking up for her man, shows she deeply cares for him. Sure hope for her that he would do the same.

I doh wuk in de US Embassy and I done eh giving him no visa as all I seeing is when he put de toe-toe on she in de US and she lock she legs rong he waist, he eh going back no Trinidad. Next ting he find ah prettier white ting and he gorn wid dat one. Sorry but dat is how I see it.
What ah could say on behalf of Trinis at de embassy? I really tink all them papers dey supposed tuh walk wid does only come into play if dey body language parse the sniff test. Dem innocent questions dey does ask dem eh just small talk eh dey does be watching dem like ah hawk. So Trinis at de US Embassy, doh just tink dat yuh papers is all yuh need, you have to be prepared fuh de interview.
Allyuh go go tuh de US, breed dem white woman and next ting yuh know 45 years later and is ah next black man looking tuh become President.

my visa expiring next year and well i have already surrendered to the fact that i'm a recent graduate and basically have no "ties" to my country. But from what i reading in the newspapers there are people who have had no problem for years and all of a sudden getting denied. New administration perhaps?? Good thing i make a trip in May and hopefully for christmas!

Hmmm I have plenty comments to make bout this scene but I will only say one thing....we all know first impressions are lasting eh.....as a woman who has had dreadlocks for 9 years...I hope when he went to the embassy he have neat up the hair and dressed properly. As much as I hate to say it the "couple" reminds me of the tobago beach guy and the tourist so really I am NOT surprise he get blank....I sure they look at the picture on the application and he get blank.....

I've witnessed a lot of ppl get shut down at the embassy and close family and friends refused on the basis that they have no "ties" to T&T. Like they want you to leave a limb back just in case.

Single Entry - $53.00
Multiple Entries - $85.00
I imagine that you would have also read Linda Edwards' recent letter to the Newsday about the same problem.

De only reason I have my current US Visa ...... is because my mother forced me to go get it ..... and clearly ..... from all the recent horror stories ...... I was lucky!
I doh even have a machine readable passport ..... and I never called to make an appointment ...... and we all know how efficient THAT is going ..... so when I do decide tuh make de call ...... I will probably get an appointment somewhere in 2020...... by which time ..... my US Visa would have already expired ...... so I doh even tink I'll ever get tuh use it ......
Carol Craig's experience was since December 2008 ...... and it seems that things got worse since that time ..... so it look like de only ting her video and letter do ...... is push de US Embassy tuh start ah dotish column in de Express ..... STEUPS ...... you ever read dat column ...... the answers tuh people's grouses/questions ..... is de most dotish generic responses ..... nobody is left feeling any wiser after reading that column!

Okay, leh meh add meh two cents. It does not matter if yuh have property, money, children or even married. These people does move on vibes. I had a ten year visa that expired about two years ago. I had to go to the US on company business so I make meh appointment, etc. When I reach, the woman start tuh ask meh once setta questions, how long ah have de house, if it was bought or inherited (WTF). How long ah married, where meh husband working, if we living in de same house (again, WTF). Ah tell yuh, if it wasn't for company business ah woulda call it quits. I eventually got five years. My point is, it does not matter what yuh have. It depends on who yuh get and how generous they feeling that day. My co-worker and his wife went to get a visa for their 2 year old son and he was denied. Allyuh hear that, that 2 year old was denied. Now you tell me...does that make sense? Both parents have their visa. Sheer madness!

When I went fuh mine ..... in 2005 ...... I got a female officer ...... and my 'interview' lasted all of 2 minutes ..... de woman ask meh two questions ..... TOTAL ..... and one was rhetorical ...... apparently ..... after scanning my job letter ..... de woman was amazed dat I had been employed wit dat company ...... for so many years ...... she then asked me my age ..... and that was the end of dat ...... she tell sheself ...... DAMN ..... WOMAN you lookin real good fuh yuh age ...... go by dat TTPost desk and pay yuh $23 ...... ah go handle yuh ...... you deserve tuh go tuh America!
but jokes aside ..... and tuh be fair ...... it also have people who does play wrong and strong too eh ...... cuz remember ...... when we read all dem grouse letters tuh editor in de papers ...... is only one side we hearin ...... we really doh know de full story ...... cuz I know of someone who was denied this year ..... and tho the person travels to the US on ah regular ...... I mean like several times per year ...... dey (de US Embassy) wasn't too happy dat de person went and put down two chirren in dey country ...... so while tuh her ...... it seemed like ah 'wha de hell - jess so!!' blank ...... fuh dem (de US Embassy) ...... dey was plannin fuh she all along!
