Our National Flag .... PRICELESS!
Since I'm not one ..... tuh indulge in gossip and small talk ...... I never really contemplated repeatin ah zeppo ah had get (about 2 months ago) .....
Some day ..... I chillin ..... limin by ah fren ..... an' I doh even remember what we was talkin about ...... but ...... de Flag come up ...... de real nice one in de National Stadium ...... cuz he say ...... how somebody tell him ...... that that same flag ...... cost somewhere around $2,000,000 ...... and dat is Radical Designs who 'design' it ...... yes ...... de same Radical Designs ...... dat de Sports Minister own!
Now I know dat real bobbol does be goin orn in sweet TnT eh ..... and den ...... on top ah dat ..... Trinis like tuh talk ..... so ...... thinking to myself ...... that dat cyah be fuh real ...... and that dat had tuh be pure hogwash ...... ole talk ...... mauvais langueness ...... and crap ...... me eh bother tuh repeat dat tuh nobody!
Today now (about 2 months later) ...... I readin papers ...... and look what I go see on Page 4 of de Express ......
Now I eh no flag engineer ...... so I cyah say fuh sure ...... dat de cost 'to erect such a symbol of national pride' ...... cyah be no $2,000,000 ...... ah jus sayin ..... dat (tuh a layperson) it real hard tuh understand ....... how sewin two piece ah red clort ..... tuh two piece ah white clort ..... tuh ah piece ah black clort ...... adding ah long string tuh it ...... connecting it tuh ah pole ..... and planting de pole in de ground ....... could cost $2,000,000!
Den de next ting ...... wuz de scene wit de Sports Minister sudden bout of amnesia ...... cuz how it is ..... you could forget dat is ah whole $2,000,000 yuh get tuh 'design' ah flag??!! ...... anyway ...... I eh have no court clothes (really I don't) ....... so doh say I say ..... cuz me eh know if is really Radical Designs dat make de flag ...... however ..... when DIS part of de mark buss ..... remember where yuh hear it first!
But ...... under all de ole talk ...... whether the flag cost $2,000,000 or not ...... I have tuh say ..... that I totally agree ....... with our Sports Minister's PRICELESS comment ..... cuz yeah ...... our Flag IS Priceless! ....... I only hope ...... that the next time he feels like making another PRICELESS comment ...... that he will remember his own words i.e. "one cannot put a price on national pride" .... and he will put his money where his mouth is!

2 mil is a bit much, $250,000 I could understand but 2 mil, and if it was done by Radical Designs (allegedly) that's a big conflick of interest.

If by 'priceless' he meaning 'one of ah kind' den de caca de government does spout tuh de people is indeed priceless. Any one ah dem EVER admit dey ministry mess up? I eh have no problem wid bulletproof vest fuh prisoners nah especially how I see dat de TTPS do it before. It have ah big case here were dese fellas gang rape dis girl at ah school dance and who eh watch take part. Dey appearing in court wid bulletproof vests on.

Isaac Hunt strikes again. If the thing costs 2million, then so be it. I have never purchased a flag of that size in my life, so I don't know (incidentally, I bought a T&T flag for my room in 1998; it cost me $150TT at Sports and Games, but I digress) but why say something SO STUPID as "one cannot put a price on national pride"...shouldn't he stop and think to himself "you know, that may not be the smartest thing to say..."

Thanks for the flag photo. I live outside Tdad and was curious to know what a $2M flag would look like after having read the controversy on internet Trinidad Express. I think this is a case of the Emperor's new clothes. Somebody is being conned. Hmmm! $2M? I going and do some research on the cost of a USA or Union Jack flag for example. Watch this space!!
