Procrastination!

Yeah ..... de same procastination dat ah have ah PhD in ...... and de same procrastination dat I been procrasting about eliminating from my MO .....

So ..... let's see ..... what have I been up to ..... what's been shakin ..... while I been missin .....

De lass time ah had vibes up de scene ..... was de week before Christmas .... which was kinda hectic fuh me .... cuz altho all the Sales were behind me ..... peeps were still droppin by tuh buy lass minute shit (YAY!) ....

Then came Christmas day ..... which was super quiet .... and cool (cuz peeps was still comin tuh buy shit) ..... but which had some peeve-y moments ..... like getting de infamous HAPPY XMAS text ..... cuz Grrrrrr ..... first tuh being ..... yuh sen meh ah generic text dat yuh muzbe sen tuh ah 100 odda people ..... and on top ah dat yuh X out CHRIST???!!! ..... WTH!! ..... den doh bodda ...... cuz generic mass texts just SUCK ..... especially Christmas ones dat Christless!

Then there was Boxing Day ..... which is kind of a blur ..... cuz I doh know what de heck I do dat day!

Then there was December 30 ..... de eve of New Year's Eve ..... where I sat on my porch reading papers ..... and takin eeeeen 'Smokey' Mc Kenzie funeral .... yeah ..... de funeral was right down de road from by me ..... and from where I sat ..... I could hear all de pore-raising singing .... which I found out afterwards was actually Denyse Plummer and Kwesi Jeffers ..... the service was long ..... and at the end ..... they played Super Blue who apparently was there in person ..... but was unable to perform live ..... and talkin about playin ah Super Blue song in ah stush Catholic Church ..... allyuh hear it have ah Catholic Carnival Band comin out dis year ..... wit no bikinis and beads ..... no alcohol ..... no winin .... no lewd music .... and no bad behaviour ..... Grrrrrrrrrr???? ..... is bess dey eh come out wit no band!!! ..... cuz I am a Trini ..... and I am a Roman Catholic .... and perhaps I am in de twilight zone too .... cuz I just doh get dis!!

Anyway ..... so dat was de morning of December 30 .....

December 30 ..... in de nite now ..... was ah whole next scene ..... as in ..... MAROON 5 ..... and de launch of de new addition tuh de Trinidad and Tobago Radio Network network ..... i.e. pop/rock radio station Star 94.7!
 
A friend introduced me to Maroon 5 long before anybody knew who dey was ..... which was probably around 2001/2002 ..... at the time they had just released their first album Songs about Jane ..... which I absolutely fell in love with (I have both the live and studio versions ) ..... so ..... when in November 2010 ....... I found out that they were actually gonna grace our shores ..... I knew I had to be front and centre stage ...... so wit comps in hand (yeah ah pull off two Platinum comps ) ..... I eagerly made my way to de National Stadium at around minutes tuh ..... nine I think ..... and even from dat point ..... while still in de road ..... I knew it was gonna be a good nite ..... cuz Platinum ticket-holders was allowed tuh park inside de Stadium ..... altho .... because of de time we reach ..... we end up gettin ah park all de way by de Jean Pierre Complex ..... but was no scene ...... cuz at least we wuz on de inside .....
 
After walking fuh what felt like hours ..... cuz I had orn six inch heels (BIG MISTAKE!) ..... and because de Platinum entrance was by de covered stands ..... we finally reach de scaffoldin ting ..... dat had like 4 people in it ..... great! ..... cuz dat was another indicator of tings tuh come ......

So we inside de covered stands now ..... and all yuh seein is people and green lights (bmobile glow sticks) ..... everywhere ..... down on de grounds ..... up in de stands ..... everywhere!! ..... the stage was set up below the scoreboard and the grounds was cut in half ...... de front half was Platinum (aka VIP) ..... and de back half was general admission ..... and being a Platinum peeps ..... I was afforded the luxury of sitting in the stands while it rained .....

Cuz GEEEEEEZAN ..... it rained ..... and it rained ..... and it rained ...... and not no heavy rain eh ..... it was de light dotish snow-like get-de-flu kinda rain ..... so fuh de first 20 minutes or so ..... I was in de stands ..... keepin dry ..... and enjoying the bird's-eye view ..... and oh what a view it was ..... de stage was fantastically awesome ..... it was de majestic dome-shaped one (didn't walk with my camera) ..... de grounds was covered with de port-o-floor ting ..... people was all over ..... wit dey umbrella ..... yes .... loads of peeps had dey umbrella ..... then there were cute tents (yeah not de tacky ugly ones) along the left and right of the stage ..... offering drinks and food ..... there was even a dining area ..... yep ..... wit tables (with tablecloths) and chairs ..... there was a champagne bar ..... there was a Carib Brewery tent set up like a 'brewery' .... there was Sushi ..... let's just say dat havin TSTT as one of de sponsors ..... paid off ..... cuz watch meh ..... de MAROON and de bmobile green was matchin real nice!!

Anyway .... after maco-in de scene from de stands ..... de rain had kinda subside ..... so we went down on de grounds .... tuh take eeeeen de end of de FAR EAST MOVEMENT ..... but ..... two minutes later ..... de rain came down again .... and we were sheltering once again ..... but this time ..... under de Carib Brewery Tent ..... which seemed to be de shelter of choice fuh most of de women who were closeby ...... altho yuh couldn't see shit from dat tent ..... but whoa ..... yuh coulda most certainly hear ..... and whoa ..... talk about pumpin ..... it didn't have one still person in de dance while dat group was on .... they really rocked!!! ..... and I didn't even know dat is dem who does sing dat cool song wit Bruno Mars!

Next up was Maroon 5 .... who came on soon after (at about 10 pm) ..... and the reason I mentioned the time ..... is because the timing of the show was simply impeccable ..... no setta long waitin in between sets an' ting ..... so Maroon 5 on de stage now ...... and Adam Levine ..... hott as ever ..... in his fitted blue T-Shirt and ..... dark blue skinny jeans ..... stoms de stage and bursts into song ..... wit Misery ..... well that was it fuh me ..... I was gone ..... talk about a performance and a half ..... not only did he sing his heart out ..... and sound really good doin it ..... he also rocked out with his guitar a few times ..... and interacted with the crowd ..... he told us that they went to Maracas Beach that same day ..... and was shocked to find out that the 20 or so peeps who was on de beach ..... actually knew them and acknowledged them ....... throughout his performance ..... he was really funny too ..... he made us sing She Will Be Loved ..... a la soca artistes who does divide de crowd into parts and make each part sing ah different line ..... he sang maybe all of his hits ..... including songs from thier new album in between ..... he really put down a good performance with loads of personality ..... de band too was awesome ..... dey real had dey shit together .... and their sound was real tight!! ..... but at the end of their performance ..... we all knew that it wasn't really THE END tho ..... cuz brother hadn't yet sung my favourite ..... Sunday Morning ..... so wit some help from Laundry ..... who came out to thank peeps fuh comin out tuh de show ..... they got the predictable encore .... sang two more songs ..... one of which was predictably Sunday Morning ..... and exited the stage ..... fuh good this time ..... after which Laundry returned to adivse dat dey was headin tuh Zen fuh de afterparty ..... and to wish everyone a Happy New Year .... which was then followed by de techno version of Auld Lang Syne .... and one setta fireworks!!

I didn't go no Zen after ..... I went home ..... cuz watch meh ..... I was content ..... Maroon 5 was DA BOMB ..... Far East Movement was slammin ..... I didn't see Kees or 5 Miles to Midnight ..... but I hear dat dey was good too ..... 

I cyah remember de lass time I enjoy a concert so ..... I real sing ..... I real dance ..... I real clap .... I real get orn like ah imps!

My only complaint about dat nite ..... was ah fat pocket ..... which I acquired after purchasing two $15 beers with a blue note ..... and gettin back de change in ONE $20 ...... and de ress in SINGLES!!!! ....

Ah real sorry ah didn't take meh camera outta de car!

Right .... so dat was dat ......

Next was Old Year's night ..... which was super uneventful ..... I sat on my porch watching fireworks ..... and trying to take pics ..... but none ah dem come out good ..... I was in bed by 12:30 am ..... at which time fireworks was still goin orn ..... and Trinis doh have money?!

Then there was New Year's Day ..... which is also a blur like Boxing Day ..... cuz I can't remember what I did ..... all I remember is that I went by a friend's family tuh eat ..... and Lordy ..... ah had tuh say ah AMEN fuh dat food ..... cuz after living on pastelles fuh de previous 2 weeks ..... it was wonderful tuh get some real food at last .....

Then some time last week I went to the launch of We the Artists ..... at the National Museum ..... and let's just say that my review on dat ..... eh nuttin like de review in today's Express ..... cuz after reading about it in de papers ..... and seeing the ads ..... I was kinda disappointed ..... in both the quality .... and quantity of the pieces that were on display ..... cuz some of them was just wack .... an' I eh no art critic eh ..... I'm just a layperson ..... and I know that everyone's interpretation will be different ..... but sometimes when I attend those types of events ..... I ofter wonder what da heck was going tru the Artist's mind .... cuz other than Eddie Bowen and a couple other peeps whose work I thought was appealing ..... the majority was real weird shit that I just couldn't figure out or relate to .... but that's just me ..... different strokes fuh different folks I guess ..... not even the Artist who I went with coulda relate either ..... but ..... doh take my word fuh it ..... maybe yuh could go check it out yuhself ..... and form yuh own opinion ..... and at de same time .... support de Artists!!!

Anyway ..... gotta run ..... I'm off tuh dat Census Day Show or Launch or whatever it is .... down at NAPA .....
