Now is no secret .... dat reading newspapers .... is my profession!

And altho .... is only de dailies (Express, Newsday, Guardian) ah does talk about most of de time .... what I have kept secret .... is dat fuh de past 2 years or so .... I been 'reading' another papers too .... called ....

GYAZETTE!!!

Now de reason ah never really write about dem .... is because .... ah was giving dem ah chance tuh produce crapable fodder (a la de ress ah newspapers ah does read) .... which woulda be de ultimate justification .... fuh dem tuh get ah bligh on dis here blog ....

But watch meh .... 2 years later .... dey win .... cuz GYAZETTE have tuh be de most entertaining .... and informative newspaper that I 'read' ....

And their articles doh come in de standard .... black and white and read all over format eh .... their articles does come in de form of songs .... and music .... yep .... Gyazette de band .... wit dey groovy .... move yuh waist ..... move yuh feet .... move yuh hands .... move yuh head .... and sometimes skin yuh teet .... kinda vibes ...... quickly jumped up de charts fuh me .... wit dey unique kaiso/soca/reggae/rock-tinged music .... and dey eclectic, animated lead singer .... Nickolai Salcedo .... who .... wit two fling of he ras .... three scream of he husky voice .... four bursts of some real thought-provoking lyrics .... and five strum of he guitar .... jus hook my ass .... yeah .... talk about stage presence!! ..... from de first time I saw dis band perform .... I was gorn .... and now .... I can safely say .... dat I am ah hardcore Gyazette groupie .... following them wherever they go .... well except South and Central .... I eh goin dat far .... so .... of course .... when I heard that they were having a show at Ibiza .... I knew I was tuh be dey .... front and centre stage ....

So fresh off de Carnival .... and dey successful stint at de 3Canal shows .... GYAZETTE come again last night .... wit de rains passin tru tuh bless-up de vibes .... and at de same time .... causin de show tuh start ah lil late (after 10:00) .... but .... was no scene .... cuz from de time de Captain of de Ship (Nickolai Salcedo) .... strum he first strum .... de many Gyazette fans who turned up .... immediately switch into jumbie mode!

Tryin someting different .... wit a 3-man band (instead of de usual 7) .... they started off de set with Just a Dream .... a song dat us fans eh hear in ah long time .... which really got the audience in the right mood fuh tings tuh come .... with follow-up favourites like .... Down .... Fightin fuh yuh Food .... Bread .... Little Millionaire ... Pay D' Devil .... Mango .... and a new one called Jestina (which is actually based on a play by Earl Lovelace) .... Jestina had de crowd goin .... and at de end dey was callin fuh more .... next up was Hot Water ... another one dat fans eh hear fuh ah while .... followed by Jumbie .... the second new song tuh premiere fuh de night ... and yet another debut that struck a chord with the audience .... then .... of course .... what Gyazette show would be complete without the ever-popular bad-ass .... Captain!

By the time the show ended .... with another great performance under dey belt .... it was as though the crowd had jus finish dey appetizer .... and was now ready fuh de main course .... so without hesitation .... and under ah kinda encore vibes .... lead singer, Nickolai Salcedo announce dat he was gonna do one more .... Humble Yuhself .... which apparently was specially requested by a fan .... so .... wit dah one .... de crowd was able tuh lap-up dey last bits of niceness tuh go off and savour .... until .... de next one .... which hopefully will be a little longer!

But de scene didn't end dey yuh know .... noooo .... cuz yuh know us Trinis .... we motto is .... when yuh out stay out! .... so de lime end up movin tuh de back of de yard .... where an impromptu jam session start up .... and ended prematurely .... wit de last-call from de bar .... and some lagniappe blessings from de rain.

All in all .... de night was bess!
